Just a heads up. This is my shooting partner and friend and I can 100% validate his warning.

That's not good news. Doesn't say much for Q.C.

I'm going in on a bulk buy of 4 caseses of that same ammo. Gonna have to be extra careful. I really couldn't see loading it by accident anyway but it's good to know. I've always been more concerned about throwing in a whole mag of .556 out of habit. Separate mags by color to be sure.

Wow that is so embarrassing for remington, do post remington's response if you can.

Hopefully they'll get this sorted quick. I was going to start stocking up heavily on this exact stuff.

He was contacted post hast, as in within the hour. They responded very quickly and appeared to give the matter its due and proper attention.

About 6 years ago I was shooting my AR with a 50rd value pack box of Winchester .223 Rem (haven't seen that package in a while) and had a round that wouldn't chamber. On closer examination it was a .222 Remington rather than a .223 (for those who don't know, .222 is shorter/weaker). That was a good reminder to me to follow the rule that they always tell you: inspect every cartridge you load.

I'm not saying there's any excuse for this, but in terms of safety, the user should pay attention. .222 is only slightly smaller than .223 and has the same size bullet, while a .223 in a 300BLK box should be quite obvious.

Well not a real big problem as one would have to be a very unattentive person to load that round into a mag of 300 Blk and miss it. If one did it would surely not allow bolt closure/lockup. Zero potential of accidental firing! Maybe Rem will make it good with a case of free ammo- one can hope anyway!:D

P.S. I have verified you can not chamber a Rem 223 in a 300 Blk chambered gun- it will not lockup- so there is ZERO danger from accidental chambering/firing of Rem 223 in a 300 Bkl AR. Same with 300Blk in and 5.56mm Chamber - will not lock up. Now if you force the bullet back into the case then it's possible so one must use some caution here.

There are pics on LF of a DD rifle that died when
he released the bolt, it went forward and jammed the head back into the case. When he pulled the trigger
Boom.

seems there were photos of an exploded rifle on the AAC forum from that exact thing happening before.

I know I have both 5.56mm/300 Blk AR's so when I saw this I had the question in my mind so I tried to chamber a round in both setups. The round used in the 5.56mm was a crimped round- alot of reloaders and some factory rounds for the 300 are not crimped- thats why the caviot on forcing a 300 Blk into a 5.56mm chmber. Set the bullet back enough and yes it will allow you to blow your gun up!:( So you guys that like to take multiple calibers to the range use extreme caution - as you should to ensure the right calibers go into the right chambers!:D

Where's R Silvers when you need him? This has to be the first .300 thread I haven't seen him comment on, I thought he would say Remington was selling a "combo sampler pack" like Sam Adams does for beer:D

The poor man does have a life. Given that Remington has responded there really isnt' much for him to say anyway..

Although I agree this is something to watch out for.

Actually R Silvers gave an assist on getting the info to the right people :)

Well it seems someone sucessfully op checks 300 Blk in a 5.56mm AR.
Grabs wrong mag -didn't check ammo and promptly Kaboomed his AR!
As I said before you pull the trigger know what ammo you put into your AR.

Note also it was an Uncrimped round! Bullet set back enough to allow bolt lockup.

The comments from the mouthbreathers over at ARFCOM reinforce why I don't go to that site. Some of those guys act like owning firearms and shooting is rocket science.

So THAT'S how you disassemble a Tangodown ARC magazine. I've always wondered about that.
