I just ran into a few 870 actions, and I already have an 18" barrel with a Scattergun Tech front sight. Now I am looking for a rear sight, but I have am unsure which one to get.

I am also going to put a rail on top, as well.

Any ideas as to which sight and which rail.................and........of course, where to get them?

Thanks,
G

I'm running a MMC from Brownells on my Benelli M1. It works pretty well and has a larger aperature than the stock Benelli sight.

+1 for VangComp

Hans Vang has just developed a new rear sight with pic rail for 870 receivers. Definitely give him a call.

Don Lazzarini, in Northern CA, makes one of the best shotgun sights for the 870 that I have ever used. Here are pictures of his front and rear sights mounted on an 870. These have proven rock solid over many years of use on hundreds of duty and tactical 870's.

Of course, you could just use one of the excellent Aimpoint T1's...

The Vang Rear Sight is very robust.

I've seen the sight Vang has / had been selling on some 'guns, adjustment sure was, uh, interesting (and time consuming).

I've used the MMC rear for many years and I really like it - two are on personal 870s. My work 870 has the improved / re-designed SGT/Wilson rear with more adjustment. It works ok.

The folks at work who use them, really seem to like the MMC peep sights on their 870s... I like the rifle sights on a 20 inch barrel better, but that is not on your list...

I have this same Benelli M1-90 shotgun. I have been wanting to put those same ghost ring sights on it for some time and have been told it could not be done. Whos front sight is on yours and what size drill bit and tap is needed to mount this rear sight. Thanks...Jim

Jim,
I traded barrels and now have a 'factory' Ghost ring front sight barrel.

Jim,
Awhile back I had an HK/Benelli M1 super 90, like above but with apistol grip and surefire light.

I had Ed Vandenberg mount MMC front and rear sights. I believe all he did was silver solder on the front sight, and park the barrel. I didn't shoot it much, but didn't have any problems.

Ed was pretty good about telling you if a project was not gonna work, so if he thought it would be a problem, he wouldn't have done it.

Thanks Bob. I may check with my gunsmith about soldering the front sight. I have a friend who owns a machine shop so I can get him to drill and tap for the rear.
