Thanks to all those who sacrificed to make D-Day a success. And to those amongst us who are still alive.

Reading their stories, and about all the things that happened that day helps the emotion in me to come forth.

Of course, the Obama ignores D-Day and is off fund-raising:

June marked some of the most important battles in history that year, in air land and sea. From Midway to D Day, thank you to all those who fought for this country in her time of need.

By contrast, probably the best memorial any President ever did.

I remember watching it live.

Thanks to everyone who was there, and all our veterans/active duty military as well.

As for the numb nuts in office...

I always find it amusing to see what Google decides to commemorate on its homepage. Never a mention of anything patriotic, but they sure did get the 79th anniversary of the drive in theater posted up there!

Honestly I could care less. They routinely ignore D Day, Veterans Day and even 9-11. But I rarely give a damn about what their doodle represents anyway, it is typically some stupid shit nobody cares about. The history of the drive in is actually higher up on my Give A **** O Meter than most of the things they choose to recognize.

I find it far more important that a sitting President simply blows off D Day. Granted I wouldn't really want to listen to what would be another insincere speech made with ulterior motives and to promote goals that those who sacrificed would never have agreed with but at least he would be recognizing the day.

To not do so is pretty insulting. I only hope people will remember in November. Course anyone who would vote for Obama probably has no idea what happened on June 6 to begin with so maybe that is wishful thinking on my part.

They have explained it in the past, and have basically said they do fun/goofy things for their homepage and theres no real way for them to do military events/holidays. Basically are they going to do a cartoon of a guy landing on Omaha with a row of dead soldiers around him? I can understand their reasoning, and it doesn't exactly mean they don't have respect for those guys. I doubt Google is run by Nazi sympathizers. It just means they don't use their home page for super serious historical stuff. Im not defending them but I don't think these days we acknoledge have to be days where all 300+ million Americans have to be do a Kim Jong Il burial reenactment and ruin the entire day.

Besides we have freedom of speech here, and while we can all have our opinion on what they choose to publish on certain days it doesn't mean they don't have the right to. I don't personally care because I don't look to the google home page to remind me of what 'today' represents.

I don't remember it but I remember him. I felt safe with him as our President. Those were some scary times too.

Well said, I agree. I feel blessed to be an American.
