Just snagged a certified pre-owned sig 228
At the shop I work at today. Looks brand new
Hopefully should be able to shoot it after a permit
Class this weekend.

It will be a big change for me as I've shot a Glock exclusively
For the past 2-3 years.

Enjoy it. It is one of my favorite DA/SA pistols. They can be scary accurate - what SIG made a rep for to begin with, combat grade reliability with target grade accuracy.

Enjoy it I am lucky to have two of them.

If you every want to get rid of it you will not have a problem with buyers...

I use Ameriglos's Defoor sights on mine. Really good sights.

Thanks! I will do my best. I will check out those sights, right now
It's just got stock sights on it. I have trijicon HD in yellow on my glock but not sure if I like the way they look on a sig slide(yes picky I know).

I bought a 228 as cheap practice for my '95 model 229 in 357SIG. I have updated both guns with E-grip and SRT.

now they're both like my 226. :D

I love the 228 platform. It's a little heavy for a carry gun but on the range it's a beast. Enjoy!

The 228 is one of the best fitting handguns I've owned. The trigger will take some getting used to compared to your Glock, but it will be just as reliable.

I love the P228. The DA/SA takes practice to master, but is a great gun and I like it the way it comes "ready" from the factory, sights included.

I got a 229 recently to complement the 226 I've had for years. I went with the factory night sights (made by Trijicon I think) and the DAK trigge set up.

Personally, I prefer having the same trigger pull with every shot vs the heavy-light-light trigger of traditional DA/SA.

I also went with the Hogue G10 grips as they are really thin.

The only d/a s/a pistols I own are two earlier P-Series SIGs. A 1980 P220 45 and a 1991 made W. German P228 9mm.

It is a pretty decent shooter for a d/a s/a pistol. Totally reliable..I swear the thing has never jammed in the 8 years I have owned it (neither has the P220).

If you can take the time to "learn" the d/a-s/a trigger...you can get some tight groups out of that gun.

It is a tad heavy and thick to carry, but for open carry or range shooting...the P228 is not a bad pistol at all.

Enjoy it....I'd never sell either of my old SIGs.

I think the 228 was the best 9MM Sig ever made. Do keep it lubed, especially the alloy rails and it wil give you great service.

Shot the 228 today, it ran like a top through 200 trouble free rounds.
Accuracy was superb, and the DA/SA didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

After some warm up shooting I ran the F.A.S.T drill from www.pistol-training.com (www.pistol-training.com)
I got lucky with a cold run of 5.95

I may lose the Hogue grips, they did play hell with my grip on the draw. I'll check out some G10 or just factory plastic for the cheap option. I do need better sights, the Ameriglo Hack sights are very tempting. Has anyone used these sights at all?

What do you want to change about. The stock sights?

Both mine have the factory tritium, which I generally like.

Mine has the stock white paint sights not big on the " rear post, front dot" or " lollipop " style.

Where's the pics??

I like shooting Sigs.

I've never understood how people could have such a hard time figuring out how to shoot a DA/SA pistol.

Actually, the older W. German and Swiss made SIG P-series guns are some of the nicest shooting d/a-s/a pistols going.

Next to my P228, I also have a Swiss made P225 and an early Browning BDA/SIG P220 in 45. All are very nice handling pistols and are accurate and very reliable.

I am usually not a fan of d/a-s/a but the older SIGs are very easy to shoot well.

The factory plastic grips are a*s unless you want to stipple them. I don't have the Hack sights on my Sig, but I have an Ameriglo trit front (no orange ring) on it with a plain black rear and I don't like it. Ameriglo sights are really nice, but I don't like the trit front/plain black combo at night. You may, because a lot do, but I prefer three dot trit, green front with yellow or orange rear. In the daytime, it doesn't matter because I don't really see the dots, but at night the plain black rear just doesn't work for me. If you've never tried it, you should because some find it faster.

I had one and loved it i regret selling it it was my favorite Sig

Yes, the hard plastic factory SIG grips are worthless. They slip if your hands get sweaty.

The SIG P-series guns feel TONS better with the rubber Hogue grip panels or wrap arounds. My P-220 and P228 both wear the Hogue panels and I would not have it any other way.

Can the early sig grips still be purchased??? I have an early 90's 226 and like the texture much better than what is on my MK25's.

Another grip option is the E grips from Sig. It's like factory made, thinned and stippled grips. The E grips are seriously small, my Houge G10s are thicker.

The E grips are so small the kit comes with a new hammer strut as the original one won't clear the grip.
