View Full Version : lowerreceivers.com?good or bad?
Hi,I just had a quick question for the pros,I ordered a lower from lowerreceivers.com,that was a week ago. They still haven't shipped it and didn't answer my email to them.Anyone here ever deal with them?I'm wondering if I should just order from somewhere else or be more patient?

Never heard of them.
Id be worried.
Why not order from a known dealer?
That place doesnt seem to have any great prices

Ummm, every lower receiver listed on your link is out of stock.....edit ok I see on page two there are 3 good lowers to choose from.

Give this a start.....
As to Olympic and DPMS, my experience is this. DPMS cuts corners in that they (and RRA) use Loctite on anything and everything they can vs staking. For Olympic, the Slick Willy post ban AR I had was out of spec like crazy. Trying to get a standard parts kit into was a chore. Wouldn't suggest them ever to anyone.
Well, heres another site that has them in stock.anybody?

Between those 3 about 98% of my firearms and accessories purchases are covered.

Grant's stock changes regularly so you have to keep an eye on his site if you want a particular brand. He does have a few good brands in stock right now to pick from though if you don't care about the roll mark.

Riflegear.com is an excellent vendor. My favorites:
Rainier Arms
Clyde Armory
Bravo Company
G&R Tactical
Riflegear
Operation Parts
Weapon Outfitters
Stick to those and you should have no problems.
Thanks for all the tips fellas',I am eager to start learning all the ar lingo and get started on my build.
The time to ask questions about such things is before you pull the trigger and make a purchase. Unless you really have the skill and tools trying to finish up an 80% lower isn't a great idea.
I have a mechanical background, being a logger kinda requires it,so I have no problem with the machine work. And yes you are correct,I should have researched more.

What I have gathered here in the last few months:
1 buy a complete rifle from a quality company, colt, bcm, dd.
(I chose colt glad I did)
2 learn your weapon before you make any mods 'cause your buddy did it.
3 use the search button.
4 shoot the hell out of it before you make changes so you know what you like and what you would like to have.
5 after all that, look into building your own. I stress after
Or get made fun of for stupid questions and wind up with a frankengun POS that ain't worth the metal it's made out of.
Just my 2¢ ymmv

Logging is a far cry from running a vertical milling machine.
Let make this easy for you...
Buy this:

Then buy one of these:

There's a lifetime warranty on BCM products BTW.

M4Carbine.net is not the place to validate a purchase. Its the place to research a purchase before you make a mistake.
Not all grant's lowers are out of stock. I ordered one Friday.

Did he do an 80% or a stripped? Because unless you live in Cali there isn't much reason to go the 80% route unless you just don't like going through an FFL. Just remember that with an 80% you're pretty much married to it for life.
Calguns has lots of info on 80% stuff.

If you want an 80%, wait for Tactical Machining to get some more in stock.
I would highly recommend against this though.

Agreed, Bravo Company is another great one.
As long as you have the tooling and mechanicial knowhow to turn your 80% lower into a 100% lower...go for it. Some of the sites sell the jigs for drilling the holes to spec. As longs as you gave a drill press and a good selection of bits you should be good to go. It's something I'd like to do, but I know I don't have the tooling to accomplish. Best of luck!

You need more than a drill press to finish an 80% lower.
Well, the lower came finally. The part looks fine, but I am not so happy about the service. When I ordered it,the web site said it was in stock, come to find out the guy had to go get severel of them a week later.I didn't feel he should have claimed "in stock"if they weren't.
I call him the following monday to see when it will ship and he told me "today".I waited and waited for a shipping notification, none came.
I realize that parts availibility is pretty sketchy lately, but I did not feel comfortabe in my purchase.Live and learn I guess.
Thanks again to all who replied to this thread,it's all part of the learning curve.

Almost ALL of my AR parts come from the above 3 vendors or Midwayusa.com or bravocompanyusa.com. I haven't found anything yet that I couldn't get from those 5 vendors.
