View Full Version : 1" FLASHLIGHT UNDER $100 to mount to AR
I just got my new DD M4V4 and am in process of getting a new light for it. I have a DD offset mount so I need to get a 1" diameter. What lights have you guys used and like or dislike. I would like to stay under $100 if possible. I appreciate any help. I tried the search function but did not see anything.
I used a surefire g2 before switching to a streamlight trl1. The surefire is quality light that can be had for around $60.
I just picked up a G2X. Great light, very bright. $65.
I'm trying to find a remote switch for it but am not having a whole lot of luck.

Search around online...You can find a brand new Streamligt TLR-1 for around $100. It can also pull double duty, as it will mount to the rail of most pistols. There is no mount needed, it comes with everything to mount it to a picatinny rail. I'm currently running one on my HD AR, and so far so good.
I want to say people have been upgrading the g2 with drop in bulb (still under $100) just an option. I'm sure that somebody with more/better info will along shortly.

Im running a Fenix TK10. Around $50 with around 225 lumens. I have a Surefire 6P with surefires replacement LED drop in and the Fenix is brighter and throws further. Battery life seems better too. It may not be as bomb proof as the Surefire, but its pretty tough.

An Elzetta will run just over $100 and they use malkoff heads. Nice lights.

G2 LED, or Streamlight Polytac.
4sevens G5 maelstrom. I will be switching from a 4sevens quark turbo 123^2 to that soon. I really like 4sevens lights, the G5 is like $80 on amazon.
Surefire on my rifles, thinking about upgrading all of them to LED.
Thanks for al replies I bought a Surefire G2X Tactical from Brownells using gift certificate I ourchased from Gear Hog the other day. I am going to look into getting one of the Malkoff heads. Which one would you recommend and where can I get one at reasonably.

You can't remove the head on the G2X.

You can upgrade the bulb.
i've used a Streamlight Polytac LED for the last year and i have no complaints. Anything from Surefire or Streamlight is gtg in my book.
You'll think this cheap but check out Ultrafire G5 300 lm on ebay. Runs on one AA battery and changes from flood to spot. $6 free shipping. I've sold a bunch of these at work to techs and outdoorsman.

Can I ask where you're finding that price? Unless I'm making a mistake on the Elzetta website, it looks like they're closer to $200.00.

Holy crap. I haven't checked out their prices in a while but I could have sworn that last time I looked (end of last year) they were running around $125 bucks.
In that case I'd just go the route of a used G2 (or a new G2 w/LED) and put a Malkoff head in to get the lumen count up if that's your thing.

I like the G2 with Malkoff drop in. The drop in makes it extremely bright and gives it a longer run time. Good gear.
Used to run a Surefire G2 LED in a VTAC mount. It was an under-performer at a Kyle Lamb carbine class. I switched to a Streamlight TLR1, which a lot of people were using with success at the class. It's been a huge improvement so far and i only paid $95.
