I'm not familiar with the Wilson flash suppressor, but isn't that A2 cage indexed wrong? It seems that that wide section without slots should be on the BOTTOM...

I believe so, one reason being to minimize dust kick up when firing close to the ground.

Nice gun though.


Edit: I see your post above mine now (we typed at the same time), so mine is irrelevant. That is a different design, one I don't think I have seen either.

I thought that too but if you look closely, it isn't an A2 flash hider, it's a muzzle brake. That a AWB configured upper, with no bayo lug and a muzzle brake instead of flash hider. The Wilson muzzle brake has slots at 3, 9, and 12.

Because flash hiders were banned, muzzle breaks were not! :p

It's hard to see, but the hole is not much larger than the bore on the end of the muzzle break, where the hol on a flash hider is much larger.
Not sure on the legal definitions between the two, but a flash hider is made to disperse the flash while a muzzle brake is designed to reduce muzzle rise and recoil.

You are right, that much I did notice. It is about the size of the round instead of a larger hole.

So this makes mine a post ban then?

Based on the muzzle brake and the lack of bayo lug, I would say that is a post ban upper. Some states still have their own bans, so they still have to make some in that configuration. Unless the brake is pinned, it could easily be changed out for an A2 flash hider. The FSB could be changed out for one with a bayo lug too, but it would trickier operation and probably not worth the trouble.

Either way, you have a nice rifle there, and it will serve you well.
