Registering my M&P with S&W?

I'm not very clear on where this should go, so I figured I'd ask it here. Sorry if this is the wrong place. Anyhow, I never filled out the form to register my M&P at Smith and Wesson. The problem is that I can't remember the exact date I bought it, and I can't find the receipt. I bought this gun nearly two years ago. Do I need to fill out the registration card in order for the warranty on my M&P to be valid? I figure the fact that I legally have one would be good enough proof to S&W, but it wouldn't hurt to be sure.

Product registration is not required for warranty coverage. It's really for marketing purposes although it does give them a mailing list in case of a recall.
