I purchased a Daniel Defense M4V3 from RifleGear.com. I'm supposed to inspect it and do the paperwork tomorrow. Question; RifleGear website shows that the rifle comes with Omega X rail. DD website says DDM4 rail. Would I be getting a better rail, or just different? Can anyone advise me the difference before I make the purchase final?

DD rifles with the DDM4 rail were released only a few weeks ago. I highly doubt the rifle the Riflegear has in stock is equipped with that rail - most likely it has the Omega X rail.

I wouldn't say that the DDM4 rail is any better than the Omega X. It's all personal preference... the Omega X is slightly taller than the DDM4 rail and has two fewer QD points. It also utilizes a different mounting system.

Anyone else wanna add their 2 cents?

My 2 cents is it's a quad rail made by and installed by a highly reputable manufacturer. I have the Omega X on my M4V5 and it is just fine. It is a free float quad rail, just like what is offered on the newest DD rifles. Sure, there are a couple minor changes.

IMO, you are getting what you ordered and that would be shitty business to refuse the transfer. Of course, if there is a problem with the rifle that is a different story.

I wouldnt be refusing a transfer. Its local to me just reserved it online and will be going in person to finalize. I just noticed the differences and was inquiring what people thought.

Justin's post is spot on.

If you're worried about how tough the DD OmegaX rail is:

Buy it and be happy you got it. I spent about 2 months searching for my DDM4. No matter what rail it comes with, you can bet it's quality. I've only found one flaw with mine... the appetite for ammo that can't be satisfied.

i don't have any experience with either rail so i can't speak on quality of either....however based on my own preferences and what i've seen in pictures, i'd prefer the DDM4. It's overall circumference is smaller, which is what i like. THe bottom rail isn't ridiculously long like it is on the Lite and Omega X rails.

Same as mine (ddm4v3 w/omega x rail).

It is very solid, and I have been very pleased.

A DD rep posted here talking about the new changes. One was a new quad rail. I'm willing to bet RG had the old one in stock. I doubt DD has even shipped many of the new ones.

All rifles built and scheduled to ship on or after June 11, 2012 will be in the new configuration. Rifle gear has taken delivery on a lot of the new models, but they haven't gotten any of the new v3s yet. The rifle you are getting will more than likely have the Omega X Rail 9.0, Standard FSB, and A2 Flash Hider.

While you're in there, be sure to check out the new models.

The Omega X is a superb rail and I can't imagine anyone would have an issue with it. I'm considered by most to be a perfectionist that's never satisfied, and even I wouldn't take issue between the two.

And you still get a bayonet lug on the old model.

what is the a difference in weight between the omega rail vs the ddm4 rail of the same length?
