Was wondering if anyone would know if the factory threading and barrel diameter for the Remington 700 SPS AAC in .308 Win. are capable of mounting a Surefire Muzzle Brake, or are modifications needed? I just picked up the rifle and Im awaiting my AICS 2.0 and NF F1, but I want to run the Surefire and Im not sure if the barrel is too thick to mount the brake due to overlap. Anybody got any input?

It most certainly has 5/8 x 24 threads, since AAC is part of the group Remington is owned by. Check which thread the .30 cal. Surefires have, but I'll bet they are the same. Exact barrel thickness shouldn't matter.

I know the threads are a match, what I am worried about is the barrel overlap. Surefire states that barrel thickness cannot exceed .775", and I dont have a micrometer handy, thats why I was asking. Thanks for the input though.

The muzzle diameter will be bigger than 0.775" behind the threads.
If you want to use one of the sure fire mounts that slips back over the barrel, then the barrel will need to be turned down.
