It didn't look like a misfire to me. It looks more like someone nailed him with an area weapon because the blast seem to have occurred behind the bastar... err... Piece-of-sh... err "poor, misguided freedom fighter". :D

Looks exactly like the motor tube was breached at the bottom on it, right where you would expect it to break. I can't tell if the tube is mil issue or home made. We have seen improvised tubes used before. It clearly shows that the shell did not detonate, based on my experience with these things..
