I've liked FN firearms since I was in basic training and first got the opportunity to get behind what may be my favorite gun of all time––-the M240B. Unfortunately, I can't have one of those in my personal collection so I've been collecting their handguns, rifles, and shotguns ever since. FNH makes great military and civilian firearms and I haven't been disappointed in any of them thus far.

The FNX line of pistols are decedents from the Browning PRO guns. Sales of the Browning Pro were disappointing so FN rebranded the pistols the FNH FNP and sold them under the FN name. Sales still were lower than expected so they 'improved' upon the original design and released the FNX (more on that in the video).

FNX9 Pros:

-Accuracy (in SA mode, this gun is extremely easy to shoot accurately)
-Reliability (I've never had a malfunction of any kind with this firearm)
-Durability (cold hammer forged barrel, stainless slide, ect...)
-MIL-STD 1913 rail for lights and accessories
-Ambidextrous controls
-Comes with 3 magazines
-4 interchangeable backstraps
-Aftermarket support (holsters, parts, ect...) are availible
-Safety acts as a decocker as well
-US made

FNX9 Cons:

-The position/size of the safety/decocker rubs my thumb (and the thumb of others that have tried it) when firing high round counts
-Mag lockup is suspect. I've never had an issue with it but it doesn't inspire confidence either

Here's a video with some shooting, table top review with disassembly/assembly and size comparison with other popular pistols, and some chronograph testing.

USA made? I didn't know that, I'll have to keep an eye on these.
Thanks

I enjoyed shooting my FNP9. Seemed like a well made weapon, for a decent price.

I haven't shot an FNX, though I've handled them considerably (I worked at a LGS and played with the inventory a bit). I'm not really a fan of double/single, though the FNX gives the option to carry cocked and locked which is sweet. I'm more of a striker fired kind of guy, but the FNX is one of the few DA/SA guns I'd own (I may check out the FNS when the time comes). I love the ergonomics of them.

I'm looking to pick up an FN, but I'm not sure on which one. I prefer DA/SA over striker fired but if my memory serves me correctly, you cannot do your own work on the FNX? I remember hearing that you cannot change out any worn parts yourself. Is this true? Is it also the case with the FNS and FNP?

Thanks for the insight on the gun -- I've been looking to pick up an FN for awhile now. They seem like really great, underrated guns.

USA made?

Yes sir. I literally picked mine off the assembly line in SC, although it's marked VA on it....? I go to the factory as part of my job (how cool is that! :D ) and snagged one (and a bunch of other FNH guns over the years).

What are you using for a holster ?

With or without the light?

My friend has one and he needs to find a holster for one with an M3X LED.

I believe the holster I've been using is RKBA. I have a bunch of his holsters and love them. He can accommodate some lights; not sure about the M3X but if you shoot him (Steve) an email he usually responds pretty quickly.
