Details: I am pleased to announce that I am hosting Larry Vickers for his 1 Day Basic Carbine course. This course is being conducted at a private range, due to their restrictions the class is only being offered to the following personnel: MIL/LE/CIVILIAN CCW PERMIT HOLDERS.

A short overview of the course.

Location: Council Bluffs, IA / Omaha, NE
Weather: 50's - 80's, sunny.
Students: 15, mix of LE/MIL/CCW.
Topics covered:

Safety brief.

Range limitations:
-The “Square range” VS reality.

Training Courses:
-Selection of courses.
-Round count and its effect on accuracy.

Equipment Selection and set up:
-Firearms /Optics / Lights / Magazines / Slings.

Firearms maintenance:
- Importance of lubrication / cleaning.

Accuracy:
-Why it’s important.
-Things to consider: Shooter is moving / Target is moving.

Shooting positions:
-Standing / Sitting / Kneeling / Prone.

Sights:
-The “Wobble Zone”.

Follow through, Scan and Assess:
- Methods / Reasoning.

Trigger manipulation:
- Trigger control.

Presentation of the carbine.

Weak Hand Techniques.

Switching Shoulders with a carbine.

Reloads.

Shooting on the move:
- Forward / Backward.

Drills:
- Walk back drills started at 50 yards and went to 150.
- Reloads.
- Transitions.
- Shooting on the move.

While this was a "basic" level course there was a TON of information covered! LAV was thorough, detailed, explained the "how" and "why" of all the tasks at hand and performed everything both right handed and left handed for us.

In usual LAV style he was approachable with questions, and consistent in holding all of the students to standard throughout the course.
