I've been looking for a S&W M&P45 (4.5" FDE w/NS #109556) for some time now and was told the other day that the FDE models have been discontinued. Can anyone confirm or dispell this?

Yeah, I saw the 109156 (model w/o night sights) still on the website but it appeared several of the other FDE models were gone (including the night sight version).

You can always add sights after getting the pistol, that's what I did.

I've been looking everywhere for a m&p 45c in FDE and haven't been able to find one. Now I've given up and am getting the HK45C in FDE.

Well hell!! I'm taking mine off the EE and keeping it. If they are discontinued, they might become very rare like the "od glocks"??? If so, I'M RICH BIOTCH!! Na just joking. Trying Buds, that's where I found mine.

Glad I got mine when I did, then! I got a compact one used, but my two full-sized ones were bought new. Love the color, and theyve been great shooters, too. I'd still prefer a black 45 to anything else.

Old thread, but I noticed that the SW web site no longer has the mid sized 45 FDE:confused: Locating any FDE M&P45 has been hard up until now, at least locally. I refuse to purchase on-line (bubs, armslist, etc..) but that's just my personal hang-up. I located both 45c and a Full size 45 NS #109556 in the same LGS. I've been wanting a S&W M&P FDE 45 for some time now, so this might be my last chance. That 45c is looking very atractive. When is comes to the FDE M&P 45s what are you guys experiencing when you visit your LGS?

Only seen (out of stock) on Grant's website. Never seen a real one!

The FS .45 is the jewel of the M&P line IMO. It is very accurate and when equipped with a TS and an Apex FSS, it may make you forget about your 1911.

I still don't understand the point of the mid size, but then I never understood the commander size either.

For me, the mid size M&P handled better. Much like how the Centurion Berettas are a better fit for me than the full size guns

Interesting. And to be honest I only tried one out once or twice.

That being said, I always found the longer barreled version of any pistol easier to shoot. I have usually found less muzzle flip and the longer sight radius usually equates to easier and more accurate shots.

When I was into 1911's I went with the compact size with the shorter barrel AND shorter grip for EDC in warmer weather. Im sure most would agree its the grip length that gives you concealment issues.

For me the "Commander" sized guns gave me no added concealment benfit AND added extra muzzle flip and a short sight radius.

Smith & Wesson is on the same page as you. I spoke to S&W today and the MP45 FDE mid-size has been discontinued. Less than 2% of their M&Ps will be FDE according to the rep I spoke with. The FDE M&P may be a thing of the past in the months/years to come. Any thoughts? By the way....I love my Mid Size 45 black M&P ;)
