Does anyone know of, or have experience with any companies that can put a better set of sights on a 642? I have used a 642 (fixed sights of course) as a backup/ pocket gun for several years. I feel like the gun could really benefit from "real" sights. It would be nice if it didn't cost as much as the gun itself. Thanks for the help.

Novak is also doing some J frame sights but I can't find them on their site from my phone.

Regardless of who you choose the price is going to be expensive. There is a lot of machine work that goes into this. Even if you went with a set of Cylinder and Slide K frame extreme duty sights (which are around $100.00) you will still have to get them resized and your top strap milled.

I had Mark Hartshorne of Pinnacle-Guns put a front night sight on my 442. He did a great job and I highly recommend him.

I considered putting sights on my J-frame but opted for crimson trace instead.
If you do get them installed let us know what you think.
Thanks.

This is for a on-duty back-up gun, no lasers allowed. I am looking hard at the Bowen sights, it's just tough justifying a set of sights that cost as much as the gun itself.

Makes sense. I know what you mean. I am sure they would make for more accurate shooting, but it is hard for me to spend that kind of money on a gun for close range self defense.

I would like to add these to my 442 (also an on duty backup) sometime in the near future, just need to find the time to bang it out.
