Greatest "Recent" U.N. Accomplishments...Have there Been Any?

Since I personally know of nothing but examples of either U.N. incompetence, inaction or corruption, I am honestly wondering if any of the other members here can generate one instance of something somewhere that they have done within the past 20 years to validate their existence. Any responses would be for perspective only and not considered as an endorsement, just looking to learn.

Also not looking to take away from the firearm related themes of the other current UN threads, this is just a general historical question.

I don't have time to tell all now, but I was contracted to work for them "once" and they (UN) are aware that they need a huge PR bump to continue to justify their existence with the failures and current world opinion and so that is what the Anti-Malarial Campaign is right now. They will be able to claim that they saved so many million lives with it and play the big hero. If the world and the African peoples knew what was really going on and the down sides they would be less than enthused about it.

Well there was the Oil for Food scandal in Iraq, the Sex for Food scandal in the Ivory Coast, the U.N.'s Human Rights Council rejecting the investigative report on genocide in Darfur, their abject failures in Rwanda and the Balkans, and let's not EVER forget their complicity in the Somalia debacle. Then there's the embarassment Dominique Strauss-Kahn caused as head of the U.N.'s International Monetary Fund. There have been numerous and prolific reports of pedophilia, prostitution and rape in several 3rd world counties by U.N. representatives & troops. The U.N. Human Rights Commission had exemplary humane regimes such as Nigeria, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Cuba and Nepal for members. It was replaced by the Human Rights Council, which has continued the tradition with luminaries such as Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Russia and Pakistan as members.

Even the US has a history of infecting people with all kinds of shit by telling them they are being inoculated.

In 1976, the WHO Expanded Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction published a report, stating:
“In 1972 the Organization (…) expanded its programme of research in human reproduction to provide an international focus for an intensified effort to improve existing methods of fertility regulation, to develop new methods and to assist national authorities in devising the best ways of providing them on a continuing basis. The programme is closely integrated with other WHO research on the delivery of family planning care by health services, which in turn feeds into WHO’s technical assistance programme to governments at the service level.”
Although the term “Anti-Fertility Vaccine”, coined by the Rockefeller Foundation, was replaced by the more bureaucratic sounding “Fertility Regulating Vaccine (FRV), the programme was obviously the same. Besides, the time-line shows conclusively that the WHO, UN Population Fund and World Bank continued on a path outlined by the Rockefellers in the late 1960s. By extension, it proves that all these organization are perfectly interlocked, best captured under the header “Scientific Dictatorship”. The relationship between the WHO and the Rockefeller Foundation is intense.

The concept of the UN was a decent one during times where international communications were difficult or even impossible. In todays world it may serve a purpose as a venue for nations to air their grievances without resorting to killing people, which IMO was how the concept was "sold". It was also sold as away to bring third world nations up to par so to speak using aid and education. However, as with Satan recruiting, once the campus visit was over the gloves came off and this asinine global governance idiocy sprung to life. Once the beurocracy started moving it became easier to dumb down the rest than to bring up the few. It needs to be disbanded ASAP. The are plenty of ways in the modern world where countries can confer and make decisions on how to handle certain situations.

Fantastic point. I don't know which of his problems highlights his irrelevance more, the fact that he is essentially a nobody who has done nothing distinguishably good on any global or even national level, or the fact that he is head of the UN.
