While this isn't a "custom" build (as KAC built the gun), it is something different.

For the last year, I have wanted to build a dedicated night "varmint" gun. Today I completed the build and zero'd it. Gun shoots quite well (.50-.75 @ 50yds with KAC Micro Iron Sights).

As this is a dedicated night gun, there is no RDS or scope. Just a PVS-14 and an IR laser.

SPECS:

KAC SR-15 IWS MOD 1
SureFire FA556-212
SureFire FH556-212A
SureFire SR Dual Switch (runs both light and laser)
SureFire M720V RAID
IR Laser
BFG Vickers 2 Point Sling (G&R version with sewn in swivels)
H2 buffer
LaRue Tactical 755-14

Soooo... what's that fuzzy tan thing over top of your gas block? ;)

Nice setup but I have a question. Why weapon mount the PVS-14 without a NV capable RDS in front of it? At least then you would have the option of taking a passive shot without activating the PEQ.

If you're just running an IR laser, I would think a helmet mounted NOD would be preferable to a weapon mounted one.

Sweet rifle nonetheless.

Yes a helmet would be optimal, I don't want to wear a helmet so weapon mount it is. I can also remove the NV device easily, scan with it and then re-attach it to the weapon for the shot.

For the record, I have tons of NV rated RDS's. I hate the narrow FOV one gets with that setup.

Last I heard he was T&Eing a new integrated IR laser/cloaking device for Seal Team 7. The fuzziness is what you get if the batteries run low, along with a reduction in the area of the cloaking field. :sarcastic:

Nice setup grant. Im planning on getting that version of that sr-15 as well. Seems like a quick night shooter
