Having seen actual North Korean TV broadcasts and propaganda, this seems light years beyond their ability.
The Chinese might be capable of such production values, but even that is a stretch, but they simply don't understand the US mindset well enough for such specific observations and insights. When they attempt to appeal to the US mindset it is usually very clumsy.
This is almost certainly a US production, the UK would be capable of it but they don't have the same freedom to produce such things as those in the US.

I'm with Steyr, I don't buy that it's North Korean in origin.
One of the things that stuck out in the very beginning was a reference to Machiavelli, which I seriously doubt would have any resonance to an Eastern observer. Some other terms were used that are straight out of the American lunatic fringe left's dialectic, things like "manufactured consent" and references to "1%" and "99%". The obsessive use of the word propagandist while simultaneously showing clips of FNC (and notably, few other news organizations). The majority of the political clips were of Bush/Reagan et al, the sort of party distinction that I seriously doubt the North Koreans would make (as all Americans are the devil incarnate).
Much of its "so terribly true" observations are only subjectively so, and they are conveniently the kind of observations made by people of a certain political bent. I'm also with kaiser, this film has Occupy written all over it.
The use of North Korea as the purported messenger is unintentionally apt, as the Occupy movement, like the North Korean overlords, would remove your choice buy meaningless luxury items and "toxic" food.

More importantly, North Korea would simply condemn such western practices. It would NEVER expose and expound upon the nature of propaganda. It knows very well that if they pointed a light on that subject, their own propaganda would shine brightly.
This would be like the DNC publishing their history for the support of slavery, the oppression of blacks historically and the manipulation of blacks during the civil rights movement to gain power. It would be counter productive and self defeating.
Ironically there are some very valid criticisms regarding consumerism, globalization, current economics and politics. But that is mostly window dressing to make these "protocols" seem authentic. The only thing more ironic is the title of the film. Hide in plain sight I guess. Sadly, most people will only see the window dressing and like a good "consumer" they will buy the entire product.

Now they could if they wanted to make something modern. The power elite have access to real internet and see the world. I still doubt they would make a film like the one we saw on youtube. It comes off like Loose-Change, and yeah too much occupy nonsense. I also doubt the NORK care about Zionism.

8th graders have access to the internet. But despite any advanced film and editing studio you might provide to them, 8th graders will only be capable of producing a certain level of sophistication.
The same is true of the production capacity of North Korea. That kim jong un documentary was basically their equivalent of the British Royal Wedding. That is as good as they get with all the stops pulled out.
If people really wanted to make this documentary plausible, they'd have attributed it to China. But that would come with it's own set of problems. The only people who are gonna buy this one are the "truther" crowd and their various political equivalents.

Anyone native Korean? How are the Korean words and translations? That should be a pretty good indicator.
"Have these people found God, no sneakers." I don't see North Korea putting that in there- especially when they have to explain religion later.

Don't know if I can get all the way thru it, but it seems more info-wars type guys than anything else. Interesting that they went after the Catholic Church, but no mention of Jews in all the "world govt" talk.

Only for entertainment purposes. If nothing else, expand your paradigm as clearly there is a 4GW/5GW going on. It is conceivably possible it will get pulled/canked etc. There is an interesting story that accompanies how it was delivered. Believe what you want.

Agreed. I do NOT think NK is capable of capturing and reproducing the nuances of culture shown in this film (or hell, even the editing - most of the DPRK video I've seen looks like the outtakes from Borat.) I'm only 10 minutes into it. More to follow.

I think we have passed 4GW/5GW and are shifting well into the 5GW/6GW paradigm. Kony 2012 & Iran Suxtet (Spelling?) are both good examples of this. The coming (And current) cyber-warfare capabilities will put us well into 6GW IMO.

Just watched it in its entirety...and just opened a beer as I felt I earned it...
That's got to be a Western production by a person or persons with a visceral hatred of the West--who grew up among us--and a really screwed up worldview. Lots of small details (I just read Bernays' book on early 20th century propaganda, and know a fair amount of history) which are woven into a really paranoiac tapestry.
Unfortunately we have now raised a couple of generations of truly ignorant people who could buy into this nonsense. (And have.)
BTW "The Sling and The Stone" is by Col. Hammes. Good read. I also like Van Creveld's "Transformation of War". The summary chapter is scary...:blink:
