This is my new S&W 1911 "E" Series. It has been 100% reliable so far. By pure coincidence it arrived via transfer and I purchased it the day my son was born (May 8th). Would be perfect to pass down to him someday with that story.
Two reasons I bought this one...sexy fish-scale serrations and external extractor.
Taken with my wife's Nikon D700.

I picked up one couple of weeks ago (just like yours). Unfortunately I haven't had an opportunity to get it to the range.
I've seen some mixed reviews, so I hope all goes well. I have to admit it was a impulse buy and wasn't well researched.
Love the slide serrations and the rail. Give us a range report when you can. I'm not too keen on the 1911's, but have heard the external extractors can be finnicky.

Actually, S&W made the external extractor on the E Series 1911 bigger than their previous 1911 to enhance reliability. I've never heard of it being finicky.
As far as a range report, I've shot about 200 rounds of mixed Federal FMJ, Remington UMC FMJ, and shitty WWB FMJ from wallyworld and all without any issues. I also shot a box of WWB hollow points without issue.
All were very accurate. Zero play in the slide and lock-up is tight. Trigger is nice and crisp.

Very nice gun. The scalloping on the slide is growing on me.
Careful. Those things are addictive!
OP, head over to 10-8 performance, I believe Hilton Yam gave favorable reviews for the S&W "E" series.
Very nice. The fish scale serrations make it look unique.

Cleaned and ready for a trip to the range this afternoon. This is only my second 1911, and my first full size model. I picked up some WC mags and can't wait to put a couple hundred down range.
holy shit. Well first off. Congrats on your son.
2nd. Nice 1911. I like what s&w are doing with their 1911 series. Having front strap checkering is practically a must imo on a 1911. I personally want to pick up their pro series 9mm 1911. I think that thing is super sexy.

Very nice. Glad you like it. How does it compare to the Colt?

I don't own a Colt so I can't compare.
Way sweet piece!, I hope it shoots as well as it looks.

Awesome, congratulations and welcome to the club:)
Congratulations on both your son and your 1911.
My first gun was/is a S&W 1911 45 E series.

I have just over 1000 rnds through it with absolutely no problems with it. The only thing I would change about it is the grips. Hope yours is as wonderfully behaved as mine has been.

Congrats
Congrats on your new little one! also nice pistol
Congrats on your new addition to your family. You received two gifts on the same day! Over the last month, my buddy and I have fired just over 1k rounds through his 5" railed E Series 1911. With various FMJ and HP, it's been a nice performer thus far. My SA Operator is my favorite 1911 currently in my stable, but I'm not opposed to adding one of these in the near future.
