If you live near MI you are not far from me. I just bought a complete BCM lower from them a few weeks ago. They also had several complete BCM rifles for pretty good prices.

That may be a good barrel for 3gun, Im not sure, It have only shot in a few matches and didn't feel like my LW 16" BCM held me back in any way.

For a duty gun, I am assuming you mean LE patrol, I would say it is likely not the best choice. I run a 16in gun and in and out of my squad it is just bareable on length. In houses I have never felt my 16in significantly held me back compared to some of our 10.5 guns, but I never wished it was longer either. My 2cents would be that a 14.5 or 16inch chrome lined barrel is the way to go.

My suggestion would be to build a full 16inch gun to use as your duty rifle and then use your match barrel to build a second upper that you can use for games and play with the precision stuff.

MI doesn't have blem lowers as far as I know.
And BCM does not offer a stripped lower.

If you are going to be trusting this rifle with your life, that barrel isn't adequate.
Call Pete @ MI and see what BCM uppers he has in stock.

Please qualify your statement per inadequate, per that barrel.

When they claimed to supply barrels to the military, that pretty much tells me they are a no go.
Yes, I heard this claim in person at a local gun show.
I've also read that they've made this claim on TOS.

Now, can you tell me...

Does it have a true 5.56 NATO chamber?
This aids in reliability.

Has it gone through critical quality control such as high pressure testing and magnetic particle inspection?
This finds flaws in the material such as inclusions.

Is it made from 4150CMV steel and chrome lined?
This help with durability.

There are other considerations such as gas port location and size, rate of twist, etc.

Am I an armorer or an industry professional?
No, but I no the difference between shit and shinola.

To further you in your quest for knowledge...
The orange search button in the top right hand corner of the screen is a marvelous tool.
It works for me 90% of the time.

Good luck on your build.

Lol!
Alright man.

You asked for advise.
I would just buy the Colt and call it a day.
I would not trust some kit gun with my life.
There are many professionals on this board who will echo this.

Good luck with your kit gun.
I hope it serves you well.

To my knowledge, there is one Wisconsin barrel maker supplying to the military in a very limited capacity.
The SDM-R and it does not use a DEZ barrel.

DEZ arms does not supply the military with barrels.

Okay, since you wanna cross-contaminate threads because folks aren't falling all over themselves to cup your nutsac and tell you what good choices you're making...

If you are unable or unwilling to check fed.biz.ops to see on which DoD contracts DEZ's been named as a vendor/manufacturer/integrator/supplier....I did it for you.

They're named on precisely ZERO small-arms contracts to the DoD.

Their little blurb actually doesn't say that they are suppliers; they say that their stuff is "used" (i.e., they've SOLD their stuff to individuals affiliated with those entities...who USE their stuff). Their statement on the website is technically factual, but doesn't make them a "supplier" any more than me having external genitalia makes me a serial rapist.

You asked as to whether what you propose is a bad build; even if you edit that out of your original post, I know it was there. You did not entitle this "Please Tell Me What I Want To Hear" so grow up and start asking for explainations/descriptions instead of holding your breath and pouting.

You supposedly wanted the input, but need to remember that the decision regarding what you're gonna do still ends up in your hands....
