Well, finally got it out of layaway but haven't had the chance to shoot it yet. I know it's just a run-of-the-mill G17, but I'm excited :D

I dunno. Is there such thing as "new gun smell"?

Yep, after shooting one (and listening to several recommendations), I thought the G17 would be a reliable and fun gun to shoot.

if i had to choose one handgun i own, or have owned, id take one of my glocks. i have a 19 and a 26 now, and theyre not going anywhere. ive bought and sold a little bit of everything, and the only time one of my glocks malfunctioned was a 30, and it was due to limpwristing.

i was reading on another thread of a shooter having feed problems w/ the 33rd mags, something ive NEVER experienced. those mags are as reliable as any 9mm IMHO, and they make a glock 9mm so much fun. since this your first glock, i suggest you snag up at least 5 of them;)

Congrats on the glock purchase. I have owned one since 1989 in fact I own several. I also am a glock armorer not much that can go wrong. One thing stay away from wolf ammo in steel cases.

I posted this picture on another board and one poster asked why I needed so many mags. Didn't think 6 mags was all that many.

I just got a barely used G17 this morning. It was a consignment piece at the local FFL! Still has the factory lube in the slide.

I have to wait til friday so it can clear the local P.D. as not stolen. :(

A Glock 17 was my first handgun that I owned. I still have it and it shoots as good as ever. Since then I added a 26 but traded it in for a 27. The 26 could hit anything I could hit with the 17. I had to go 40 cal. to keep up with local LE's. More recently, I acquired a used 23, so I have three Glocks in all. Enjoy!!!

I just ordered a blade-tech stingray holster and a set of heinie straight-eight sights for my G17 last week. Can't wait to take it out again with the new stuff. Congrats on a excellent purchase.

I had a G22 years ago(early '90's), but didn't shoot it much so I sold it.

Last July, I used a G17 at Blackwater and loved it. Much nicer to shoot than my work guns(S&W 5946).
So I bought one in the fall in OD Green. Only have about 50 rds through it, but love it.
Once I get more time on the range, the round count will go way up, and I'll probably use it for IPSC/IDPA when I get back into some competitive shooting.

I also picked up a G26. A G19 and G34 are next on the list. I want to complete the 9mm family. :D

And if anyone is wondering why 9mm, they're fun to shoot, and for range use, I don't really need more than 9mm.
And the best reason, I get a smokin' deal on 9mm ammo at work. ;)

my 17 is my do-almost-everything pistol. It has a light going over by bowie tactical concepts and i am trying to find it a twin. Good shooting.

It is very hard to beat a G17. For what it is worth I have about 50 magazines for the G21’s, 6 is a good start.

Dude! You need to adjust your white balance to shoot under incandescent light.

The pic can be easily improved though in any photo editor. Just hit the auto adjust.

BTW -- nice holster. What make?

You just cannot go wrong with a Glock 17. Everyone should have one. Or more.
