Serial dates it to '76, nice shooter.

Shot both 9.5gr of Unique and 19gr of 2400 rounds through it and it is one accurate little pistol as it tore up the 10 and X rings.

Very nice. One of the best looking Smiths.

Very nice! I've never met a Model 29 that I didn't like. Everyone should have one.

You've got your 4" M-29. All you need now is your big cowboy hat and a cigar and you're all set to trick-or-treat as Elmer Keith! ;)

The 29-2 is a classic. Bear in mind that these earlier versions do not have some of the mods that S&W incorporated to help make them handle a steady diet of heavy loads a bit better. With extreme loads, the earlier 29's can unlock the cylinder on recoil. It rotates backward and one gets a "click" instead of a "bang" on the next attempt to fire.

If memory serves, the 29-2 is the same -dash model that Clint Eastwood used in Dirty Harry.

What a lovely old revolver. I've burnt I reckon a hundred pounds of Unique and 2400 in 44s. My fav loads were 9 and 18 grains behind anything from 225 grains to 250 grains. Them's some dirty ole powders. Once for grins I collected the unburnt powder from the gun rug until I had 18 grains. It went bang just fine. I don't know anyone else that's recycled unburnt powder.
