(Let me preface this by saying a lot of guys reading this will probably know more about ARs than I do, so if I missed/messed up something please let me know...)

Well, the LE6920 Anodized Magpul edition (Model: LE6920MPFDE) lives up to the standards Colt is known for.

The big question when it comes to Colt ARs in my opinion is––-are they worth the money they charge over lower priced competitors like PSA, Spikes, Windam, ect... Tough to say as it's an individual decision. I generally only recommend Colt ARs to people who don't know anything about ARs and have a ~1k budget because you really can't go wrong with one. But, I'm certainly not a Colt fan-boy as this is the only Colt rifle I personally own and I have nothing but good things to say about my other PSA ARs. I only bought this one because I got a good deal on it and I sold another rifle I bought years ago and made $450 on it to put toward this AR (and because I like shiny FDE products!).

Pros(and features):
-1 in 7 chrome lined 16.1'' barrel with A2 style brake
-5.56 chamber
-MPI (or MPC as Colt calls it) inspected bolt
-Anodized upper, lower, and buffer tube
-Magpul stock, rear sight, pistol grip, mags (2x black PMags), handguard, and VFG included
-Cleaning kit and sling included
-Good out of the box mil spec trigger (pulls crisp between 6-7lbs)
-This model has LE serial number (some people think this is a big deal, not me however)
-Reliability (0 failures of any kind through 500 rounds, the vast majority Barnaul ammo)

Cons:
-Cost
-Stepped barrel isn't used/needed by the vast majority of shooters
-The anodization seems to turn color or hold carbon on the inside of the upper even after being cleaned(the video shows it better than I can write it)

Bottom line: You really can't go wrong with the 6920. If you're looking for a quality, reliable, out of the box AR at around $1k this rifle deserves consideration. You can probably get a similar quality rifle for less, especially if you build it, but you'd probably be increasing your chances of getting a lemon.

Here's a video with some discussion, shooting from 15m, 40m, and 75m (the farthest line of sight I have on the land). I also do a quick table top discussion and chrono some Hornday TAP 75gr and Silver Bear 62gr HP rounds.

Looks nice, LGS has them in stock $1499, which seems a bit high. I already have an M4 "target" model (post ban neutered 6920) so I don't technically need another one......but hey you never know. Probably not at the $1499 price. Nice review.

When i read the title "magpul edition" i thought this thing was going to have some special lower or something.

I wish company's would color ar's in green more often instead of tan all the time. Not everyone lives in a desert environment.

Looks like Colt made the receivers and buffer tube out of C-3PO.

Good review, I noticed the inside of my upper was black too when I picked it up.

I might get smacked for this, but how does this compare to the Sig M400's FDE?

Those FDE's look sexy. This FDE looks almost two different colors between the metal and the plastic. Almost gold-ish.

Good looking rig! How is it holding up under your current usage?

It is more goldish than most FDE colors, but its not like if you glanced at it your first thought would be look at that gold gun, its kind of like the surefire scout tan's.

I like it, even though I don't currently own a Colt or even a complete factory built rifle. The only downside for me is the carbine length hand guard. I suppose I could order one, cut the FSB, and install a 12" or 13" rail, in FDE! If it had a pencil barrel I'd be all over it regardless.

Not to rehash this old argument again, but I think FDE blends better in more environments than OD. OD sticks out more where it's predominantly brown, like in the fall and spring, and even in the midst of greenery, FDE still hides a lot better than black. Not to mention how they all look under NV - try THAT sometime for a shocker.

They make a green one also... The sand looks much, much better IMHO. I didn't know these existed (with the anodized lower) until I saw one on Sun. Definitely something different... I thought the green looked awful.

Real world chrono data is always interesting and usually disappointing. Even realizing those are .223 Rem loads rather than 5.56 NATO, those are slow muzzle velocities and will provide poor trajectories compared to M193 out of a 20"+ barrel. Puts the seemingly slow velocities and arcing trajectories of 300BLK (and to some extent 6.8 SPC) into some perspective. With a 16" barrel you could be getting 115gr @2550-2650fps out of 6.8, or 110gr at 2350-2400fps out of 300BLK. (Slight thread veer, but with 16" barreled real carbines it's an apples:apples comparison.)

I would love to see one on these with a DD RIS rail in FDE. Either shaved fsp or the DD FSP version of the RIS.

My bank account is glad it doesn't have a LW barrel...

You could always rebarrel it :sarcastic:. Also, I was thinking that new Geisele rail in sand.

It doesn't really matter how many environments fde blends in with. It doesn't blend in better in MY environment. The only place where fde would really work for me is if i was on the beach. On top of that, there will always be a market for od green guns as there are people out there that just like the color.

Those would be really sharp if you switched the furniture out for foliage green furniture.

It would probably look pretty good. What's crazy is that the OD models I've seen have black furnature...

Ready for my MK18 RIS II FSP, should be here Monday, fingers crossed for tomorrow though :) I'll send off for the stamp probably next month, then chop the barrel to 10.5 when that comes back. Also have a cav arms FDE A2 grip and old style CAR stock that should be here next week as well.

The rail came missing the 2 longer screws to hold the rail to the barrel nut adapter, and 3 of the flathead screws for holding the bottom rail to the top.http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_dissapprove.gif Going to email DD and bravo company to see if one of them can send me the screws... Other than that I love the rail, oh and FDE grip/stock ordered and should be here next week.

Eotech won't stay that far forward, just using it to keep the rail tight while I wait on the missing screws.
