I'm sure many of you heard about the HK 416 being taken away from certain units. For all those in the special forces community or those with any info on this I would love to hear why?

I've heard there was complaints about units using the 416 after the Army stood behind its decision to stick with the M4 as the go to reliable weapon. So is this decision purely political b.s? Does the Army want to look good standing behind its decision of the m4 and doesn't want speculation and confusion as to why those in the special forces community prefer and stand behind the German HK 416. And lastly, for those units who purchased the HK 416 with private funds, will you be compensated? Or just sh*t out of luck.

This isnt anything important or needing immediate response. I'm just curious about this and would like to know any input you guys have. Thank you

The HK416 was removed from service with the Asymmetric Warfare Group back in 2008. I haven't seen any recent news about the 416.

In other news, Mr. Lincoln was just shot in Fords Theater!

:D

If you do some googling this story was in the news a few years back. One unit had to turn them in for purely political reasons...users were not happy about it.

And, realizing this is the AR Gen Discussion forum prior to stating this, AWG also lost their Glock 19's at the same time.

Seems like Glocks are used broadly in USASOC these days.

seems like political mantra supersedes actually doing the job with what works best.

just last week the USMC ordered new colt m1911's in .45 ACP to the tune of 24.5 mil...

decisions...decisions...:confused::confused::confused:

Yep, they're all over the place, predating the T/I of AWGs guns.

AWG is not a USASOC subordinate, however

Roger that - didn't mean to imply that it was. More commenting that though AWG lost the Glock, it did not disappear from Army use.

News flash the United States is just dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. I think that says it all.
