Hi folks,

I'm new to red dot sights, having shot irons and mag scopes only. Recently acquired a Vortex Strikefire for my Bushmaster M-forgery and sighted in co-witness at 50 yards. All's well until I drop the BUIS and try to go red dot only. POI shifts high (2-3 inches) due to, I think, parallax. Supposedly, parallax isn't an issue beyond 50, but I thought the whole reason for red dots was quick (and accurate) target acquisition while on the move, with less attention to such factors as eye position, cheek weld, etc. Put another way, I thought that once sighted, I could simply pull my rifle up, spy the dot, and put the bullet on target. Maybe I was expecting too much? Thanks for any tips!
