Gents,
I have a DD m4 9.5 FSP rail that I am attempting to remove but I cannot figure out the best way to loosen the outer retaining nut that tightens the rail to the barrel nut.

It is the older style with no notches in the outer nut.

Any tips??

Thanks!

Yes. Get either a super good one or a couple of junk ones from harbor freight. You WILL chew them up. They will get caught in between nut and upper.

Strap wrench, you may also want to throw the upper in the freezer for a few hours.

Doesn't Daniel Defense make a special tool for this? I know we have YHM rails on our guns here in Baghdad and there is a special tool that I need to remove it.

He's got the old nut.
