Came across this on Forbes,

http://www.forbes.com/sites/lorenthompson/2012/08/06/new-air-force-chief-must-reverse-services-downward-spiral/

Having been around and lived through the spiraling in the nuclear community, there's a lot of truth here. People's eyes used to bug out of their heads when I showed them the 10.5" floppies and reel to reel computers that are still used for daily operations.

I know we have a lot of guys from other services, was curious about your take on this.

That article sums up the angst I have been feeling for the last 10 plus years.
When Gates killed the F-22 because we were not using it in Afghanistan, I almost had a stroke. I wanted to scream -"That's not what they are for you idiot!"
The day after Gates announced we were killing the F-22, the cover of AvWeek had a picture of a new Russian stealth fighter......

They were so busy trying to be "relevant" in the current conflict, they lost focus on the global mission and future threats.

The first time US forces come under serious air attack, somebody's going to regret it.
