Still working on assembling a DMR, just need to find a tier 1, 20" complete upper, pinned LPGB.

Likely be dropping it on a Rainer lower, SSA-E, Magpul MIAD, and Vltor A5 receiver.

Still deciding on rail system.

Suggestions?

A bit expensive, but I can't imagine going wrong with these:

everything but the LPGB

I have yet to see the BCM "in stock" since November of last year.

PSA has some, but I am unsure of the barrel and receiver quality. Beyond that, other than G&R who is in the same boat with "out of stock" on the 20", I can not find any others out there.

It's been my primary choice since I started looking into my first AR, but was talked out of it.

I would prefer a 20" over 18". Not sure if there is anyone who makes a quality barrel any longer, but by that time I may as well get into a .308+ or bolt gun. Just not ready to pull the trigger on all the reloading crap for a new caliber.

Some intersting choices here for not crazy money. I have no idea how good/bad FN's hammer forged stainless barrels are.

From what I have been able to gather, FN makes a good barrel. I wonder if they would do a custom upper assembly with a 20" FN Stainless and Vltor MUR receiver. I'll have to inquire.

This is the best factory DMR upper that money can buy, in my opinion. I have a friend with one, has something like 10k round suppressed, and his gun is still printing .88'' 10 round groups. No malfs currently. The same couldn't be said for his first DMR upper which if I remember correctly was BCM. It ran perfectly, but was shot out around 7K rounds. No malfs on that one either.

Noveske also gets a high nod. IMHO.

I was looking at PKfirearms when I was getting my 20" upper. I found out they use rock river arms bcg's and bolts that are not mil-spec which made them a no-go for me. The FN barreled 20" upper is the one I picked up from Palmetto State Armory as they use mil-spec bcg's, bolts, and receivers. They had free shipping at the time too!

I really liked my old YHM "smooth custom" free float on my old rifle length 20" build.

Not sure why this hasn't been recommended yet but Noveske is the tip of the spear when it comes to reliable precision AR's.

Not sure why it has to be a 20" but to each his own I guess. There is very little, if anything, that a 20" barrel will do that a quality 18" cant do.

A 18" LaRue Stealth with a 13.2 was my choice, but you can also get a 20" if you are dead set on it.

Not sure that there is a better value on the market...

Unfortunately it doesn't see much daylight now that I am shooting .308 with my OBR, MWS or SCAR 17

I had not seen that one. Looks like another top contender for my list.

20" will give me a touch more velocity and range than an 18", which was the reason that I went with a 16" on my first AR over the 18" (was not cost effective to me at the time with the extra $300+ for that little touch of increase). The 18" and 20" seem to be holding the same price point.

At least the LaRue is actually in stock (so their website says).

Could also take a look at Loki Weapon Systems. I've never shot one but they seem to offer a fairly wide range of builds.
