I am considering another 14.5-inch BCM upper group for a new build. They offer one that has a "Troy Industries BRAVO 11" quad rail. I am not familiar with this model. In your opinion, is this a good rail?

That is their four-side pic rail that bolts to the factory barrel nut. I own two Troy rails and they're very nicely finished, light and sturdy. Excellent value.

I have the troy rail on one of the bcm recce uppers and i love it...deff get rail covers though.
Comparing it to the daniel defense lite my wife has and the troys deff are on the heavier side.
Overall fantastic quality.

I have a BCM 14.5" upper with that same rail on it so far can't see a reason/need to change it. If I were ever to change it out for something else it would mainly be to tinker with the upper and see if I like a different option.

I had a Troy Bravo on my last AR and it was a heavy bastard. I had some issues with mine. The first one I bought was warped and I had to send it back to Troy to get replaced. The replacement came but was not finished well and had burrs all over it. I opted to not send it back since it was not a big deal to me and I just wanted to get my rifle back together at that point. But it was pretty sturdy and did the trick minus my small frustrations just mentioned. I have a Troy Alpha on my new upper and I love it so obviously it was not enough of a complaint to chase me away from Troy products. However, If I was looking for a strong quad rail that attaches to a standard barrel nut I would go Centurion over Troy if I was going that route again. A bit more expensive, but lighter and very strong.

After reading at fallenromeo's post I may look into the Centurion rails. I am wanting a more lightweight rail. Thanks for the replies gentlemen!

I would - cant say enough about their design, quality, and ease of installation.

If its going on a 14.5 (I'm assuming permd muzzle device) you're on the right track with a rail system that retains the factory barrel nut IMO.

If I was gonna shell out the $$ for a whole new upper I'd wait ('til I had the money or it was in stock, whichever comes first:D), spend a couple hundred more and get a Daniel Defense RIS II or a LaRue 12".

Best of the best and you'll like it forever. Or at least a long time...
