View Full Version : .308 Suppressors?

I need some inspiration for the suppressor that will ride on the new Grendel upper. I am going to get a .30cal can so that I can use it on the AR-10 in a pinch too.

I have looked briefly into some .308 cans and it would appear most are thread on.

I am leaning towards an SWR Omega 30 if the "best" can would be a thread on.

Maybe some of you have other cans that might spark me in a different direction. :p

So let's see them, or hear about them...

OPS INC of course

Well, thanks that was enlightening. :p

Got pics on different weapons, or pics at all of the mount, etc?

nope, nada, nothing.

But from the people I've talked to, who have been issued weapons with the OPS 12th and 3rd model in .30, I'm confident its the way to go.

If a bolt gun, get the 3rd model, if an auto loader, get the 12th.

I'll make you a real deal on one, just because your satisfaction and word of mouth will get more sales.

It uses the same type of brake and collar arrangement as the 5.56 models??

I'm concerned that the Grendel Lothar SPR-type barrel would need to be machined to accept the collar.

Thoughts?

Email if you are serious about a "deal". I am due two bonuses here soon and am thinking hard on it.

They both locate on a 20 degree shoulder but the 3rd model just uses a threaded barrel and no brake. The 12th model uses a brake. You can use a collar or have the shoulder machined into the barrel.

I have a AAC Cyclone on my Rem 700 .308Win. It works very well. Let me know if you would like to shoot it sometime. It has standard AR10 threads.
5/8x24.

I have an Gemtech HVT QD inbound for a customer. Maybe I can get you a full report on it soon.

I have an SWR Omega and LOVE it. You can shoot it without ears with supersonic ammo, it gave me a little boost in velocity, never has to be cleaned per Joe, not the lightest but not the heaviest either, same goes for length, Joe is always very friendly when I've called, cheaper then a Jet/Ops/SF, chicks dig it.

Anyone handled the YHM 7.62?

I like the mount...

Have 2 of the yhm .30cal w/QD mts-use them on my .223's and .308s(HK91/v51/v53) have longview arms adapters from hk thread to 5/8x24 for the yhm QD mts. They work well, are f/a rated, contrary to some opinions they do make the HK series more comfortable and quieter. Also have an SRT .308 can that is very comparable. just my opinion.-Beemer

I bought a YHM .308 Can from Steve @ Adco, i use it on my Savage 10FP, AR-10, XCR in 5.56, and two AR15s in 5.56, i am going to go 6.8 next, all using the same can. Some say you lose effectiveness using a .308 can on .223, but it works weel for me! I wouldn't buy a .223 can when my .308 does the job. It might be a little heavy, but i love it!

Does the can change the POI for any of your .223s? I assume that you are using thread adapters to be able to install the QD mounts. Where did you purchase these adapters? TIA!!

Jim Rodgers-Longview Class III arms made my adapters-about $80.00/ea-I think he gave a discount on multiples-does nice work his # is 903-918-0140. I think he's in Texas-Beemer
As far as poi shift, couldn't tell you-been playing with them in f/a config.

If you are looking to switch between Grendel upper and AR10 upper, surefire maybe?

Here is my GAP (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=6478) rifle that started with a rock #7 22incher, profiled to fit the OPS 3rd .30cal. Steve had to shorten the barrel a little bit, approx 0.5inches to get enough barrel to have the collar machined directly into the barrel.

I actually bought two YHM Phantom .308 QD's. They work great on the AR-10 and the Grendel.

Really quiet on both...

I have fired a Remington LTR with an Advanced Armament Corp cyclone and it was very good. I can attest on AAC'a quality and customer service in many different levels between my own product experience and seeing how they handle customers.

I have an AAC 7.62SD which appears to be a cyclone with a QD mount. It is great on AR-10 and M-16 alike(works fine with .223 and 7.62x39 uppers as well)

Thing is a TANK! Definately nice.

What I haven't had the guts to do is my .308 bolt gun treaded to take a QD mount. Seems over the top to sport a Flash Hider(kinda of FR-8ish) but still.
