I would like to remove the collapsable stock that my SR-15 came with and replace it with an A2 style. I know I will have to also change out the spring and buffer. Will the effect operation of the rifle? Any suggestions on manufactures of the A2 tubes?

Changing to the A2 setup shouldn't have a great effect on the rifle. The rifle buffer is heavier than the carbine buffers, but this counteracted by the longer tube and different spring rate. As long as you have a properly functioning upper, it should run just fine. As far as makers, any decent manufacturer will do. I would stay away from brands like UTG, but anything by a reputable name like DPMS, Stag, CMMG, Colt, and on and on... should do just fine.

I'd stick to a COLT R.E. You can get them at brownells. They are a few bucks more, but they're made from a real forging and will be much stronger than something you'd get from DPMS or the like.
