Hey. I noticed the stupid hole in the back of my 442 when I installed the plug. I opened her back up and installed the locking plate with its spring back in over the plug to fill the hole. Is this proper. Is the spring even necessary?

Not quite sure what you mean but there are two ways to install the plug. (I assume you mean the Bullseye Smith plug?)

(1) You reinstall the original fork and fork spring back in the gun as in post #14.

(2) Now, Bullseye Smith has a "cllip" he sells with his plugs that go in like shown in post #1.

ETA: Either method is fine.
