View Full Version : gen 4 plastic extended magazine release
does anyone know where i can buy the topglock gen 4 plastic extended magazine release?
the site www.thegunsource.com doesn't work anymore.
i used the vickers extended magazine release today and it's just not extended quite enough for my left handed use.
i have a topglock extended. it is oversized and can be reshaped in the tradition of the gen 3 extended magazine releases. i just want another one.

The site seems to work just fine...

The Vickers extends further than the Extended OEM release
The Vickers extends further than the Extended OEM release
Actually the Vickers is in between the stock OEM and the GLOCK extended.
Actually to me the most important part is the profile. The vickers mag release is very flat towards the front. This makes activating it with the index finger quite difficult. I have to rearrange my hand more than normal to get the magazine to release reliably. The factory extended and the topglock do not taper off toward the front and hence leave more meat for me to actuate the mag release. This means I have to reprofile the mag release so it doesn't eat my middle finger when shooting, but I'm accustomed to profiling mag buttons.

Must be your browser...it works fine for me.
Paste the link in your address bar rather than trying the hotlink...that may work for you.
I've tried it from multiple computers. Perhaps you have a cached version of the site on your computer.
I have gotten my hands on a few oem extended mag releases. Glock still knows how to do it right. The reprofiled mag releases are just right.
One note about the op in this thread. The topglock mag release is very extended and while I actually still prefer its size to the oem glock unit I must remark that it is made of a different plastic than the rest of the glock. The factory pieces are made of factory glock like plastic. The topglock is made of something shinier and more brittle. Bad. In fact after reprofiling one of the texture ribs cracked off... This doesn't hurt performance but I bet this unit would not do well in extreme cold.
I have read the aluminum mag releases shave the mags as they are inserted and dropped. Also bad... Glock oem for me.
Since I have all 4 in front of me I will measure the mag releases.
Oem glock 1.1730"
Glock oem extended 1.2130"
Vickers extended 1.2230
Topglock extended 1.293"
hi guys i need some help, i recently purchased the glock OEM Extended mag release P/N 8794 and when i installed it my G19 and G23, the mags no longer drop free and its difficult to press the mag release. did i install it wrong? i went back to the originals and they work just perfect.
Glock doesn't make an extended mag release for the Gen4's.

Yes, they do (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?3784-Glock-Gen-4-extended-quot-FBI-quot-magazine-catch).
Do yourself a huge favor and just buy the Gen 4 Vickers. It's what every JMB mag release wishes it was.

yes they do its part number SP08794, and only answer if you actually know the answer. thank you

no offense to LAV but i brought a gen 3 extended mag release and feel it was a waste of $16 that could have went to ammo. i would really prefer not to make the same mistake 2x.

Yes they exist, But I guess I should have prefaced that if you go to Glock they won't install one on your gun. Same with the oval mag catch.
