I was having a crappy day at work. The last two to be exact. My best friend and I knowing of the impending hurricane bearing down on our state decided to do something a little different.

We decided the heck with it lets go down there. So we rented a hotel directly across from the beach and have had a spectacular view of mother nature's fury all night long. Well for the most part we've been outside.

Some may call this stupid (and I am sure in future retrospect it will be) but it is truly awe inspiring to be this close to nature's power. Humbling as well.

I've got some pics if anyone cares. My apologies if they are terrible. My camera was soaking wet, I was/am soaking wet, gusts of wind made it hard to keep stable, and it being at night all contributed to pics that dont exactly match anything from National Geographic

This is Hwy 90 which parallels the beaches of Mississippi. A ghost town tonight. There was a curfew tonight that we knew about but tried anyway to make it to the hotel without getting pulled over.....yeh we had some blue lights behind us. The LEO was very courteous.

This bad boy was parked right off the beach. It is an armored Tahoe designed to take the abuse hurricanes can dish out. All kinds of high tech instrumentation inside and armored glass beneath a metal grating.

Had to take a pic of this news truck (there are at least 5 news channels staying at the hotel with us) b/c it had my name in it!

This next pic may look weird but the story behind it is interesting. I was on the beach trying to take some pics of the sand and the wind was blowing so hard the entire beach looked like one giant blur. Quite surreal.

I've got some more pics if anybody is interested. Hopefully when the sun comes up and high tide arrives the pics will get a little more exciting. Pictures unfortunately cannot portray the experience of being here. This has been quite a night and one I'll remember.
