just went to a gun show in Tucson, and heard a dealer telling someone that you cant reload to AP anywhere in the states anymore..... federal law? Dang, what to do now with 100 30-06 AP bullets!
Gun show pap! He was probably selling some of that "green tip Armor piercing" to some fool at the time.
Anyway, who would ever know or care.

Try telling the owners of .50 BMG that - AP is one of the most common projectiles they load.

With a .50 BMG, does it really MATTER? I have seen gongs at the 415y line at the local range with holes bored neatly through them from just FMJ .50's
Oh yeah, they were 1.5" thick gongs.

Thier are people over on GunBroker that sell what they call Tungsten AP bullets at outragous prices. They are a bunch of lying thieves. Tungsten is nonmagnetic those bullets are made of steel. Thier is also a pic somewhere that shows cross sections of the various AP rounds and those are not the tungsten ones, they are just steel core.
