Anyone ever see a colt bcg with a single staking point on each screw? I have a brand new bcg with only one staking spot on each screw.

Are you sure it is a Colt? Post some pics.

The more I look at it the bcg doesn't look like a colt. Colt stakes from the sides (In my experience). That looks like it was "field staked" with a punch, not a moacks tool

Did you order from colt or another source?

I have read that thread...but thx

I have three other colts so i am quite familiar with their staking. Its marked C on the carrier and MPC on the bolt but the key seems off. Almost like it was replaced and staked by someone and sold as new. I did not receive it directly from colt.

I've seen some counter staking like that done after market, but with the usual side staking. I cant say i've ever seen a factory Colt bcg come that way.

The carrier appears to be marked with a "C" and the markings on the bolt look legit.

The carrier key is a different matter. Something doesn't look right with the screws and the key was staked using the "field staking method" but someone didn't get the memo about 2 stakings.

I was told it came off of an old unfired sp1

I also found this.

If thats against the rules obviously delete it but I meant no harm.

It does look like an old school carrier they use to stake them like that.

If so then that is interesting they would use an sp1 key.

lacks any staking what so ever, and has not had a single problem is over 15 years of continuous light use.

It's possible the key could have been replaced at some point for some reason....

Or that's just how they did it on that production run....

I mean.. I have a Cold BCG that had the key replaced, and it had a field stake job on it. Just shoot it already.

Of course i am going to shoot it...just wanted others to see it and get their feedback.

Also, the guy said he was mistaken and that it actually came from a LMG.

Here is a page from the Marine manual with a few illustrations on staking positions.

I had no idea.
