Saw this at Brownells for a good price.

Anyone use this and can comment on it's quality for practice ammo?

Had the same questions when I saw it for sale on Palmetto State Armory.

Never heard of someone against the idea of free ammo. You're a real gem.

I bought a bunch of it back when PSA had it dirt cheap with free shipping. From what I've shot of it so far I've had no misfires, it does smell a little funny though. If you just need cheap practice ammo I see nothing wrong with it, just don't expect great accuracy.

Not bad results out of my 16" Mid-Length Piston AR.

No misfires.
Zero Malfunctions.
Not bad clean up wise.
Decent paper groups at 200yds
Hit Steel at 500yds.

I'll take all I can afford.

I bought some from PSA this spring. 500 rounds with one failure to eject but that could have been the rifle. Had two failures to hold the bolt open on last round. Not amazing but it works well for punching holes in paper. I'm hoping the deal comes back in January when I have a bit of spending money so I can buy some more.

Tapatalk ate my spelling and grammar.

Just tried this out the other day in a BCM 16" middy.

Function was good, 4:00 ejection in a nice small pile.

IMI M193 ejected at 3:00.

So power wise, it appears to be full strength .223, rather than weak .223 or extra strong 5.56.

Cases seem to be dirty as expected for steel.

Bottom line, OK for practice / blasting, but don't expect any miracles.

From shooting or watching... On par with Wolf, Tuula, Herters, etc, for quality, POI, apparent recoil impulse. For the most part, it shoots, feeds, and cycles. I would opt for the Wolf or Tuula before the MFS.

I prefer ammo that I know is domestically produced, SAAMI spec, and from a vendor I can hold accountable. The imports are iffy in those ways.

There are plenty of folks that will not only decline free ammo, but free guns. Free can be more expensive that many will realize.

I've shot a lot of 62gr Silver Bear HP thru both my BCM ARs with no problem. I ordered 1,000 rounds.

Thanks.

The real deal was when they were selling it for $129.99 per 500rds with free shipping. The only good thing is that free shipping for this week only on orders over $50.00 is back.

I picked up 500 during that promotion, having shot plenty of Silver Bear in the past (most through AK's) I knew what to expect. I would buy it again, as I had no issues at all through my 14.5 BCM carbine. Not really especially dirty, but with an A2 flashider that stuff is still a fireball.

I've shot nearly 1000 rounds of this ammo and experienced only 2 misfires. I like it because of cost but some ranges here in Southern CA do not allow steel core. MFS is bi-metal and does attract a magnet.

Another good word for the MFS ammo. I tested it out at a G&R class a month or two ago and had no problems whatsoever. I don't think I'd use it so serious applications (duty/HD/downrange/etc..) but it's great practice ammo I have yet to have a misfire with. Got 1,000 rounds on the way as I type :D

Yea between two or three of us I'd say we have around 1,000 rounds of MFS fired with no issues? SBRs and 16" middys.

Save some ammo for me, I'll be in AZ soon!

On a rating scale I would take,

1. MFS
2. Tulammo
3. Wolf

And never ever Herters as this is just plain crap with numerous issues. No matter what lots or style I see this ammo fail at classes and over at the club just about weekly.

Add me to the list of "it's okay ammo for punching holes in paper" folks. It is decent range ammo. As good as it gets as far as steel case is concerned.

Yesterday I only had time to shoot 100 rounds out of my light weight BCM middy. It ran flawlessly and was accurate enough to hit COM at 50 yards. Didn't have time to shoot farther. Glad I bought it, but wish it was the HP variety.

I just checked my receipt and I stand corrected it was 124.99 not 129.99 as I posted earlier, thats $90.00 difference if I ordered those same six cases today. Any money in my pocket even $10.00 to $15.00 savings a case is better then it being in some one else's account.
