Hello,

Just saw this, supposedly SF is going to use this setup on all its new cans, anyone have any input on it? Looks very similar to the MB556K but is a little longer.

The muzzle interface change does away with the pin and slot arrangement that could sometimes lead to a misaligned suppressor when the pin inside the suppressor indexed improperly on one of the open tines of a flash reducing muzzle device. The new system uses an alignment notch and tab that provides more positive engagement and simplifies the muzzle design since it’s ratcheting system is now entirely integrated into the suppressor itself. The older system relied on ratchet teeth that were cut into the end of the muzzle device.

Slightly different hole configuration as well. I would imagine it would be difficult to improve on the recoil negating performance based on how well the MB556 works, I'm curious to see how people feel the new one does. My guess is no real felt difference by the shooter, but that is just a guess.

Also tagging. Not that I have knowledge of any breaks...

Is there supposed to be any benefit from the extra .2 inches of length? Or is that just due to the new mounting system?

maybe I didn't buy one, just got this email from SF...

Dear Jeffrey,

Seems that our website had a glitch and allowed you to place an order for a Muzzle Break, unfortunately these items cannot be purchased directly from our website. We had to cancel your online order. You might see the pending authorization for the order total on your credit card account but this transaction will automatically expire within 2-3 business days, since the order will never ship.

If you still would like the item please contact our tech support team at the phone number located below and they will assist you with placing your order. Thank you, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Customer Service Department

At least they were quick on the response and didn't leave me sitting for a month. I'm calling to order now...

They are backordered 1-6 weeks, I'm going to do some searching tonight and if I can't find one on a dealer site I will order one directly tomorrow but it might be a while

Interesting... I just went back on the website, and the previous 5.56 model suppressors/fh/mb aren't there anymore. Are they killing off the 212, SA and mini? Also, what ever happened to the micro?

Did they really misspell brake as "break" or did you change it to match your thread title? ;)
They spell it correctly here: http://www.surefire.com/tactical-equipment/suppressor-adapters.html

Figures they make all these changes/improvements when I should get my 212 released in a month or so...

And I'd recommend waiting for a reliable vendor to get the muzzle devices in stock. I phoned in an order to SF in March for two 215a's. They had them in stock. The invoice they emailed me said the order would be filled by July... After waiting until July with no results, I called and cancelled. Got one from BCM and one from DSG for nearly the same as SF's LE/mil price.

No I copied and pasted that from my email so they misspelled it, I guess I did too when I originally posted this thread, whatever, i never claimed to be a scholar, lol.

That's good info, I will probably just wait for these to turn up on dealer sites, will likely get it faster and cheaper that way.

Of course I'll keep everyone up to date. I actually just got an MB556K on my PredatAR last week but I'm always interested in the new stuff. I'll pick one up when they're available

According to the emails I have from Surefire they're going to be incorporating the news models onto the website over the next few weeks/months. There will be another version of the mini, and another suppressor specifically designed for barrels less than 10 inches.

That just became my new computer background image (though I wish you had it in a slightly higher resolution). Awesome work as always Stickman!

As for the subject of Surefire's new brakes and suppressors, looks like I am going to have to start saving up money for some new toys :D.

212 and mini are here to stay. The SOCOM can is just another addition to the line up.

Cheers....

What does this mean for those of us with the "old" brakes? When buying a suppressor, are my choices to a) convert my brake to the new model to fit the new suppressors or b) try to find an older model suppressor? Neither choice is appealing.

some more info on the SOCOM brakes and Flash hiders. The SOCOM series will have its own brakes, flash hiders and suppressors.
