How stable is the Midwest Industries MCTAR-19? I'm looking for a rail for my 20" A3. This is a college student build, I can add to it later after I graduate I just want a rail for now, and I've heard better things about Midwest than YHM. Anyone tried one? Do they rattle at all it seems like an interesting system.

The other option that I'm looking at is the MCTAR-22, which sounds a bit more stable. I like the monolithic style, so I'm tempted to hunt down a used version of this rail.

Anyone have any experience with either? I like the not having to take the front sight off idea since Im trapped to an apartment to work on my gun and I dont have a table with a decent vise and receiver block setup here. I'm constrained to a budget of around $175, cause I'd like to get a rail and a few more mags with my tax return. It was lower than I thought, sadly.

Thanks in Advance,
-Irish

thanks for the heads up. Ya I'm just looking for something in that range and that style, so that works too.

I've got the freefloat rail on one of my rifles. It is a very good rail, especially for the money. Far better than the YHM units, especially in your case of limited tools/work area. I do AR work in a local shop as a side job, and the owner carries YHM stuff so I've seen a lot of them. I'm really not impressed with them.
