Been looking around on this forum and seen some cool stuff. Now I want to look into getting my first M4 before November (just incase they ban the sale of semi auto rifles)

Now what would be a good option to go with that is not super expensive and will be good and reliable?

I own many pistols but never have had a rifle so I'm newer to them.

1) Banning of semi-autos will not be a quick process, even if the election in November goes the wrong way.
2) This thread is going to get shut down quick. There are literally dozens of threads just like yours and you should be able to find them with the orange search button.
3) Colt 6920 is the least expensive, quality, M4 style rifle available.

Bravo Company makes some very nice rifles for the money.

Really? What's your budget and how serious are you in wanting quality and reliability?

As someone has pointed out, regardless of Novembers outcome you have plenty of time to get a good weapon.

I have a flyer from Walmart (last week) where they were advertising Colt 6920's for 1097.00.

If you have been reading around as you state, you should know no one here is going to recommend that you buy some cheap(er) piece of shit.

Another good option would be to contact GandR Tactical and take a look at the BCM rifles they have (midlengths).

1. Get a good gun. Use the search button. Hint: Bravo Co., Colt, Daniel Defense, LMT.

2. Get good magazines to put in your good gun. Use the search button. Hint: Magpul Pmags, NHMTG.

3. Get good ammo to put in your good magazines to put in your good gun. Use the search button. Hint: Federal XM193, M855, Lake City, Black Hills.

4. Get good lube to put in your good gun so all that goodness works. Read the sticky on lubrication. Hint: Frog Lube, Militech, Slip 2000.

It will take awhile to search, digest, and come up with your own conclusions with all the info but then you'll be in the know.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Welcome to the forum. Now start searching and learning.

If you want an M4, join the Marines. You'd best be getting, as November isn't too far away.

The panic buying hasn't started yet, but it probably will within the next 6 months (regardless of who wins, the democrats have promised to re-introduce the AWB).

Wal-mart's price on Colt 6920's is a decent one. If I remember right, you can even put one on lay-a-way. With a deal like that, it's really hard to justify buying anything less. Besides, it's the closest you're going to get to an M4 without enlisting.

I'd do one of the following:

1. Get a BCM from Bravocompanyusa.com or Gandrtactical.com for about $1,000

2. Put a Colt 6920 on layaway (or just pay it one lump sum) at Wal-Mart for around $1,100.

3. Get the 'limited edition' Troy Defense 5.56 from Dick's Sporting Goods for $1,000 -- if you can still find one near you. I hear they're getting harder to find but still out in the wild. You could easily part it out and get more than what you paid, honestly, but I'd keep it.

Any one of those options will suit you just fine and last a lifetime, no doubt.

BMC Colt LMT and others are great for the money. if youre wanting to spend less, try Palmetto state armory. I got the M4 from them and its been running like a dream for me. Just a heads up, I'm no expert and I don't run my guns like alot of people do, so some might have better info on palmetto.

Daniel Defense, Colt, BCM, get a quality rifle not some piece of crap.

Welcome to the site. Undoubtedly this thread will be locked shortly, as this question comes up repeatedly. The forum membership tends to recommend one of the 'BCD' rifles (that's BCM, Colt or Daniel Defense) for a first AR purchase. While prices appear to be climbing again as we get closer to election season, the prices on Colt rifles (look for the 6920 or 6720) are still very reasonable these days.

BCM isn't taking rifle orders and DSG is out of stock........

Due to high sales volumes of M4 style rifles, and your short time frame, you pretty much have to find one in stock somewhere. The good stuff often sells out quickly.

First I would look at the vendors who advertise here to see if any has a variant in stock that suits your preferences. If that does not work, you might try gun broker (yes, I shop there too).

For example here are some:

Here's a novel idea, instead of "looking around", how about you read all of the stickies here, then draw your own conclusions...

I read that as meaning one and the same, i.e., "looking around" the site, but that's a cogent point. The stuck threads (including the one with The Chart) exist for a reason; please make use of them.

Kyohte, you posted "If you want an M4, join the Marines..."

...on a site with M4 in the title. Wake up, dude.
