View Full Version : Rifle length handguard with middy F-post cutout?

Does anyone make a free float handguard around 13-14" with a middy F-post cutout? Preferrably something modular. I don't want a full quad. I've looked with little luck.

I've only found one option, the Sampson Evo 9"EX

I like the JP Modular, but the extension only works with the carbine length handguard for some reason.

Anything out there I missed? Maybe something I can mod? I have no problem cutting something if it will serve my purpose. I really want to keep my FSB.

Centurion C4 isn't a modular handguard but it is pretty light for a quad rail.

Apex makes a middy cutout tube, though.

The two you listed there are about the only two options I have found as well. I hadnt seen the Apex yet, but I don't like the way it looks.

FWIW, I dont know why the JP tube extension wouldnt work with a mid-length rail versus a carbine only. The ends of the rails should be exactly the same unless it is too long and goes past the muzzle. Thats the only thing I can think of for why they would advertise it that way.

I think he's asking for a 13-14" hand guard with a mid fsp cut out kind of like the 12" rails from centurion and dd with a carbine fsp cut out. It has a short rail section in front of the fsp.

Or maybe I'm wrong lol

That is probably correct, and as far as I know at this time the only option for a modular rail with rail in front of the FSP is the JP with the extension.

You can do it with samson evolution handguards too.

The only problem is that the extension is 4", and the 9-EX rail is roughly 12", meaning that the total length will be 16".
So if the OP has no problem cutting things, then cutting an inch off the extension would work perfectly for a 16" barrel.
It actually could work without any cutting as the FH will extend past the extension.

Thanks everyone for the info. Not interested in a full quad. Don't like the look or feel. Also want something light-ish. The JP would be ideal but the extension doesn't work with the longer handguards. The carbine version has a different end than the rest.

This one I haven't seen. Thanks. Looks good but I don't think it's long enough for what I want.

Koshinn, you are correct in what I'm looking for. I really like the Sampson Evo Mid. Didn't know they made an extension. That's about perfect right there. I have Kies Linear Comp on my Middy. So, that would be the only thing showing. Might look pretty good. if not, I could cut it. No biggie. It also would put my Light mount right where I want it with the connection rail.

Here's what I have now. Looking to change up the handguard in the future (ignore the cheapo red dot)...
