the best QD for a "normal" price would be the bobro...
under that, the american defence then larue
the AD and larue have 20moa options in the base as well

Damn, that's a ton of scope for that rifle. Sure you need it?
Don't "need" it but this is my first precision rifle and I want to go with a 300wm down the road, but wanted to start with a 308 to get my fundamentals down. instead of using the power of the 300wm as a crutch. This way in a year or two I won't be even more out of pocket on another scope when I upgrade to a longer range caliber.

Just plan on threading mine for a larger knob, no offense to anyone who's done the kinetic knob but they just look cheap to me.

They feel and work great.
I am doing a VERY similar project. I was looking at the same stock...I'm not crazy about the forearm though.
I am still at the very beginning of my transformation. In other words, I just have the rifle at this point.

I really like the KRG bolt lift on my R700 SPS Tactical in .223. I eventually have plans to true the action and convert to a custom barrel in .223 AI at that point have the bolt studded and add a custom knob. In the meanwhile it's as said above feels and works great.
I am curious why many people comment that a person may have over scoped their rifle? I have a NF NXS 8-32x56 on mine.

less power = smaller light scope, a 10x is fine for man size targets to 1k if you have full size torso to hit..
but if all you have is a head peeking out at you, or you use it like i do for small things like groundhogs, a 16x is good to about 700 and a 20x to 1400.
personally, i dont use over a 24x, i had a 32 a long time ago and hated it...

Bipod and picatinny rail:
Also looking for an option to get rid of the sling attachment for picatinny rail mounted and a recommended bipod setup for it.
I searched for a while last night and can't find a rail conversion for this stock so if anyone knows of one or a DIY how to please fill me in.
Ok so after doing some research and actually feeling Both I've decided to go with a XLR Evolution since it runs about what a b&c w/ a DBM does and is a better option in my opinion
Remember, the xlr needs high rings due to the front tube. This was why I went with the mcree
well ordered my nightforce and my xlr evolution today... although the evolution is on a 10 week backorder :(
went with the 3.5-15x50 mlr2.0 (first focal plane scope) after looking through a few at a local shop and liking the 3.5-15 better than the 5.5-22
my xlr project has been a complete disaster so far.
it looks cool, and i love the front end. i just can't get used to the back end. and the gun doesn't shoot well at all. i'm going to replace the stock and either put the rock solid chassis on there or go back to the tried and true traditional manners T4-A or macmillan A5
not sure if the stock would make it shoot bad, at least on a XLR...
define bad?
Just like Ring said... define "bad"... is it just uncomfortable and therefore hard to shoot or is there slack/slop in it?
also what is the "rock solid chassis"
i really wanted a cadex chassis but for that kinda of $$ i'll wait until i build a 300WM in a year or two
let me put it this way... i've got 1200 rounds on the action/chassis and so far have tried 2 different bartlein barrels, win hornady and rem brass, 115g dtac 107g SMK and 105g berger hybrids, and 2 lots of H4350
and i've yet to shoot a dot drill with all the shots touching a 1" dot at 100yd. it's a 1.5 MOA rifle. that's no good for me. my last four PRS matches i finished 4th, 4th, 43rd and 24th. guess when i switched rifles...
i do like the ergos on it (except for where the rear bag goes). just can't get this one to shoot.

dont think a stock change will help... sell it start over :)
yep, just to be clear, i'm not blaming the chassis. i'm just running out of other things to blame :)
Taliv -
I'm in the same boat....weird. I just dropped my 243 barreled action, along with a manners T4, with my gunsmith this morning. I just couldn't get comfortable with my Chassis as compared to my A5's/T4's. Lot's of time on my 223 trainer, which is in an A5, has just made it alot harder to go chassis....
hey jpipes, where'd you get a manners t4? i need a left handed one STAT! :)
