I'm getting ready to finish my 9mm build.

Its 10.5" RRA with fixed front sight base, Troy Rear Buis and Eotech 512 in LaRue riser. What distance do should I sight it? 25 years or 50 yards?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

I sighted mine at 25, but I have no logical basis for this. I'm going to be changing it to 50, but again with no logical basis. My thinking, at least at 50, is that I'm not likely to use this gun much past that, and it should keep me within 2.5" from 0-50.

I'd like to see someone with a ballistic calculator do some cyphering and tell us initial cross and secondary cross. I'm not sure how fast 9mm starts dropping, or even what the muzzle velocity is out of a 16" barrel.

I'm also leaning towards 50 yards zero. Like Rob said some 9mm ballistics out of 16' and 10.5" would be an asset.

Go to www.huntingnut.com

They have a free download for a ballistics computer application called "point blank". You enter the data specific to the load and weapon you are firing and you can see how where you sight it in at will effect your point of impact at various ranges.

A very good tool.

Take a look at this article. It has some good info. "Zeroing a 9mm AR Carbine" by LTC Chuck Santose -- http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/9mmzero.msnw
