View Full Version : Flash Hiders over 2"
I need a flash hider that is 2" minimum. Anyone happen to have a YHM 5C1 or a Bravo Company A2X they can measure for me? How about other 2+ inch muzzle devices that won't break the bank.
Thanks,
Roy
The two that I've used have been are the AAC Blackout 51T and the Surefire FH556-212

Take a look at the VLTOR VC1 or the Smith Vortex

Overall length.

If you are looking to take a 14.5 out to a legal 16 (when pinned), the Phantom, Vortex, and BCM extended A2 will all work as well as the others posted above. The new BCM muzzle device will as well in its longer configuration, but I don't know the cost on that one.
I found an excellent deal on a stripped Daniel Defense Cold Hammer Forged barrell, and I work wirth a bunch of machinists who are both willing and capable to work on a rifle barrel. The fellow who cut my barrel down to 14.5 inches unfortunately didn't measure form the breach face (like I told him) and I ended up 3/8" short with a standard A2 flash hider. With a 2" device, I will be at 16.1" from the face of the closed bolt (which is how the BATF measures barrel length).
BCM,'s A2X would work (because its OAL is 2"), but I ordered a YHM 5C1, which looks to be at least 2", does what I need it to do, and is cheap $30. VLtor has a very nice muzzle device that's 2.1", but at nearly $60 was more than I wanted to spend.
Don't forget that you need an extra .6" to account for overlap at the threads.
