The OEM stock at 14" LOP is too long for me

I decided to shorten the stock and add a Limbsaver pad.

What do you guys think? Questions? Comments?

If I can't buy SGs with youth/bantam/"tactical" stocks on them, they go to the table saw on delivery unless they are for dedicated wing-shooting.

One thing I've noticed about shortening the polymer stocks... Make sure that there is enough material depth remaining for the butt pad retaining screws to properly thread in and hold. One OEM Mossberg stock needed some reinforcement after a cut job. (~2000 production)

I made a thread near the bottom of the page to photo-document my experience in chopping and epoxy-filling an 870 stock. 13" is just about perfect for me, and a lot of other folks seem to like the youth stocks, if they aren't inclined to chop their own.

It's simple enough that most folks should give it a go if they find their stock too long. Looks good, pad fits nice as well. Was it a grind-to-fit or pre-fit pad?

It's a good mod! I had a 11-87 stock cut down to 13" LOP and I find it perfect;
