View Full Version : OPS Inc muzzle brake added length?

Does anyone know how much length an OPS Inc muzzle brake suppressor mount adds to your gun? I'm trying to figure out if one would make my 14.7" legal.

Emails with OPS told me that it adds 1.5" to OAL, which would make the gun legal, but the stats on their website seem to indicate it adds 1.25" (e.g., M4-S adds 1" beyond MD, with 2.25" behind the muzzle, meaning 2.25" in front of the muzzle; with 1" beyond the MD, wouldn't that mean the brake adds 1.25" to OAL?).

Can anyone with ownership of an OPS Inc brake confirm this for me?

I measured two barrels I have and both were 1.5" from the tip of the barrel to the end of the brake. You should be good to go pinning the brake to your 14.7" barrel.

Perfect. Everything looks to be confirmed.

Thanks a bunch man.

He is spot on - the issue only arises when trying ti use the OPS to pin something on a 14.5"

I hope you plan on running suppressed 90% of the time. That break is LOUD.

I do. :) Getting an M4-S and an M4-M. The S will be on there when I don't want too much weight.

Find a good shop that can pin it through the silencer attachment threads without damaging them...

Good deal. I run mine with the M4s as well. I use it on a 14.5, but it's on a SBR.

I opted for that setup too, and it was a good choice - had to run the ADCO A1 adaptor, just because that brake is too loud for anything short to be ran unsuppressed for my taste - it's fantastic on my 18", and on a dedicated suppressed 10.5" I wouldn't choose anything else, but there's a concern about pinning a brake on 14.7" I didn't actually remember, but as a partial ban state (Cans, but no SBR's) alternative, then the pinned 14.7"/M4-S is THE answer, with a pinned 14.5"/SF Micro being the costlier alternative.
