I got a VCAS last thursday for my DDM4V5 and thinking about returning it in for the padded version. I heard the padded version is longer though is that true?

I also only have one qd swivel now for the front on the rail and was thinking about getting another sewn to the quick release. I kind of like mounting it on the butt stock also but I only have the moe so was thinking about getting some kind of qd mount for that.

Just trying to find out how you guys like to mount your vcas.

I have the padded VCAS. I haven't seen the unpadded version so I can't comment on how much longer it is, but I'm 6' and the length is perfect for me. It's very adjustable so you can adapt the overall length fairly easily.

I use a QD on the rail end and a fastex quick release extension from Blueforcegear on the buttock end of each of my rifles.

This way I can attach it to any on my rifles by just having a QD socket on the rail and looping a BFG quick release on the buttock. I would advise against getting it sewn in since it will be a pain to reconfigure, and you can't slip things on the strap easily once it's sewn.

If you want a QD on the back end your DD should already have a QD socket on the receiver end plate. My v7 does but I don't use it. I bought the BFG burnsed socket to covert the VCAS to a single point thinking I might use it like that in the future with the receiver end plate QD, but then I realized how much I dislike a simple point config.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a qd mount on the end of the receiver but I was thinking like you mentioned that would be better for a single point sling.
This was the adapter I was looking at.

I will have to call BlueForce tomorrow about returning mine for a padded version.

Was also looking at this for the stock.

I haven't had an issue with my sewn in variants (especially on my V5, since that OmegaX rail mount is in the right spot), but there's nothing at all wrong with running one QD on the front for the handguard attachment, and just using the cloth run-through on the stock.

As far as padded vs. not - go padded. It's wider where it runs over your shoulder, which means it can slide around a bit easier, not to mention it's significantly more comfortable. I certainly wouldn't consider it mandatory to get the padded, but the comfort and convenience value of it for the price difference is phenomenal.

I should of got the padded one in the first place. I didnt like the sling through the slot on the stock cause I like to remove it when its not needed and the QD is just more convenient.
