SGM Kelly D. Venden (Ret) is a decorated combat veteran with over 29 years of service in the Special Operations community and Federal Law Enforcement. SGM Venden earned his exceptional weapons and tactical expertise while operationally assigned to the 1/75th Ranger Battalion and 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment – Delta (SFOD) specializing in advanced counter terrorist operations and other high risk special operations missions. His duties also included the development and implementation of advanced marksmanship training programs directed towards progression from individual to tactical team employment, with a focus on Close Quarter Battle (CQB) drills, Hostage Rescue, Vehicle Interdiction (VI), aircraft takedown scenarios, surgical breaching and demolition, and other special operations offensive and defensive tactics. He is a veteran of numerous combat theatres to include the Island of Grenada “Urgent Fury”, the gulf war in Iraq, Operation Gothic Serpent in Somalia, Bosnia and most recently Afghanistan. As a Federal Air Marshal, Kelly’s role included designing and implementing the firearms curriculum for the fledgling federal agency. He is the creator of the “Triple-Nickel” course of fire (www.triple-nickel.org); initially used as an “Air Marshal Instructor competency assessment”, which has become the standard of excellence for Federal Agents and a national aspiration for many law enforcement personnel. He continues to serve our nation as a subject matter expert (SME) advisor to DOD, DOE, FBI, DEA, and other agencies. Kelly is a certified firearms instructor through the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), and has honed students at other high-profile organizations such as the SIG Academy, Spartan Tactical, TigerSwan Inc, and the Combating Terrorism Center (West Point).

Intermediate tactical pistol class description:

This class is an intensive tactical skills development course. Students will be introduced to dynamic reality-based live fire drills and provided with one-on-one assessments and corrective actions as required. The course is designed to transition students from static fire and basic movement to more advanced tactics and techniques using the modern pistol. Techniques are developed to meet evolving survival demands in varied threat encounters. Participants will utilize cover, concealment, movement and performance marksmanship during tactical scenarios in order to stop or eliminate the treat. Each participant will depart the course with an enhanced skillset and ability to survive and prevail a deadly force encounter.

This is an intermediate level tactical pistol course. The participant needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon systems familiarity, and sound marksmanship skills.

Equipment List:

-Pistol w/ normal holster you wear
-3 Magazines (5 preferred) with magazine pouches
-Sturdy belt
-Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
-Sunscreen and bug spray
-Hat with brim
-Appropriate eye protection
-Earmuffs and earplugs
-500 rounds ammunition (minimum)
-Range is"out there" bring food, drinks, and chairs for breaks.

Location: Cedar Ridge Range. Bulverde, TX

Tuition fee: $175 ($75 deposit with remainder due at range)

Time: 0900-1700
