I have an auction going for this and my starting price appears to be too high. Any ideas on the value of a .40cal USP compact in OD Green, with two 12 round magazines, original box and manual...even the original purchase receipt. I have only fired 24 rounds, the previous owner kept a log showing 618 rounds fired.

There is some minor denting in front of the rail area:

same price as the black one!

Just check Gun Broker, Guns America, etc.
I was told when I sold mine that used prices are in the $300-$400 price range. Sucks, I know, Ive been there. I sold mine for $650 in the end.

Wrong sir, if its a genuine OD, gray, or tan usp they are highly desireable. Go over to HKpro and I can gaurantee you will find somone willing to pay almost a grand for it very quickly. And if its a beat all to hell usp then yea maybe 300-400 bucks for a used one. Sounds like an lgs tried to have his way with you. If you can find me decent condition usp's for that cheap i will literally take 10 of them now.

The colored HK USP frames go for a premium, especially the OD Green. I'd venture to guess ~$800-$900 since it was fired. Only collectors collect the funky colored USP pistols.

I'm not sure if this would effect the price, but the "JS" next to the H&K logo on the slide means that this pistol came from the hunting and sporting division of H&K.

If anything i would think its even more rare then but when it comes down to it, everything out there is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Id say post it at hkpro for 850-900 and see what offers are given. There is a 30 something minimum post requirement before you are allowed to sell there, but just take part in some posts and then list it up for sale. Dont make bs fluff posts though because the mods dont like that at all.

Anybody here a member over at HKpro? I am not, and you need 30 posts before you can sell. Maybe someone can PM me and I can send you the auction link. The rules say linking auctions is allowed.

I completely agree, and people pay 800+ for used non black usp's all the time. Buddy of mine just got a tan usp custom combat that was used as hell for 950 with only 1 mag. The only time people sell rare usp's for decent prices is when they have no clue exactly what they have.

Yes, I understand supply and demand. I know things are only worth what people want to pay. I didn't see any other OD USP's for sale other than mine, and couldn't find any recent sale prices for them. I read that only 500 were sold in the states, making them rare...which would increase the value to those that care.

I have seen the different color USPs go local here for some outrageous sums. Saw a grey framed USP go for $1,400 a few months ago with no case, no paperwork, and I think two ten round mags. Of course regular USPs sell high here anyway for some reason, when CDNN had used .45 USPs for I think $550, might have been $600, they were being sold here for $700-850, used I might add and usually beat to all hell with nothing but one mag. Of course people sell used Glocks here for MRSP and if its OD of FDE add $200-500 to MSRP.

The value on these rare HK models will be specific to who is looking at it. Functionality wise, the colored framed models have zero differences in them outside of the actual frame color. So you really have to find people who know exactly what you have for sale in order to get really any kinda premium for these rare handguns.

I believe I have a strong qualification to appraise these particular firearms so I will offer you what several years of constantly watching these SE models get bought and sold for, along with then knowing how many were ever built.

USP40c in OD frame...

NIB/unfired/99%+ grade = $1200-1300

LNIB/some wear and firing/80%+ grade = $800-1000

Used/extensive wear and firing/any grade less than 80% = $500-700

Personally I would keep the shit out of it, they won't ever make any more of these, they didn't make many at all even in the most widely produced individual variant, and ultimately not a whole lot of time has gone by from when they were released in regards to the value of collectability type firearms.

In another 25-50yrs, I'd imagine these will be commanding big bucks. It doesn't hurt that HK doesn't make special edition stuff but once in a blue moon as well on this front.

History:

500 were made in each model and caliber offered, however not all models were offered in all colors.

Urban Gray: USPf .45, USPc .40 (1000)

OD Green: USPf .45, USPf .40, USPc .40, USP .45 Tactical (2000)

Desert Tan: USPf .45, USPf .40, USPc .40, USP .45 Tactical, Mark 23 (2500)

The Urban Gray was the most rare with only 1000 made in that color.

The Desert Tan was the most common with 2500 made in that color.

The Mark 23 was only offered in Desert Tan.

My Urban Gray USPc :)

When I went to HK armorers school, they had several of the transparent frame USP compacts on had so we could see the internal interaction of parts. These guns stayed in the classroom. I never thought to ask if they could be fired, or were only constructed for demonstration purposes...

They were quite helpful in understanding the interaction of parts.
