is the DPMS .308 AR any good ? is there something better ? I was thinking of getting a DPMS 24 inch fluted barrel AR . what I want is 1 MOA or better and 100% relieability. who sells them at the lowest price ?

"Best" and "Lowest Price Point" are usually mutually exclusive.

The truly best .308 AR is not going to carry the lowest price.

If you want an MOA shooter the DPMS LR-308 will most likely deliver that just fine. I doubt it will be "the best", unless the only two metrics you care about are:

MOA @ 100yds and super low cost.

FWIW...

not looking for the lowest price rifle ,but the best (lowest) price on the best rifle. I should have made that clearer. :o

Ok, have George and crew @ GA Precision build you a nice, basic, DPMS or ArmaLite .308 AR.

Should run you around $2250 or so. The barrel will be far better than the Wilson or PacNor that comes on the ArmaLite or DPMS.

You'd have a better rifle than just about anything commercially sold.

If you want a DI .308 AR, I'd go with the Noveske Leonidas. They're absolute tack drivers, not to mention capable of sub minute groups.

i hope it is ok to jump in here, i dint mean to hijack a thread, but i am also looking to purchase a good .308 AR. but i would rather pic-up a duty type carbine not a bench gun. does Noveske also make something like that? i did not see what i am looking for on there website. D........

Noveske indeed makes a 12.5", 14.5" and 16" Leonidas.

Even at 12.5" a 308 AR is far different than a M4 though.

A DPMS 308 SASS with cryo barrel, chrome bcg and up graded trigger will give you 1/2" groups. The only thing needed to mine was re-staking the bolt carrier.

My favorite is the factory Armalite AR-10T Super SASS. I especially like the adjustable gas system (for the suppressor). Mine has been ordered for some time and I was just informed that it's on it's way :)

And this is what it can do at 100 yards. That is 3 shots by the way.
